I have to admit that AMB's pricing is very high. I've helped set up a couple kart tracks with timing/scoring systems and it costs thousands of dollars for even the most rudimentary AMB setup. Their software is the worst. The newest software release for karting applications is almost $2k - and believe me when I say it ain't even close to worth that kind of money.

Most folks in the US deal direct with AMB USA. I once rigged a concession kart system provided by a British company, but the guts were all the same AMB stuff we get over here. It was close to 20k and we still had to go get AMB's race software to handle club races.

But relative to the cost of a automotive transponder, a RC car transponder is still way cheap - even if it is overpriced.
