NIMH Transmitter Batts
Err what it have really destroyed the cells (AA 2100mah nimh) if I charged them with 4.5 amps? They were very hot after the charge . I probably should charge them at .5 amps from now on, but hopefully theyre not destroyed after that crazy charge.
Just checked em and theyre all 1.47 volts. Seems like theyre ok but I will take caution in the future

Well, I can't tell you if they will be ok. You will just need to try them out and see how they still work! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that they still work fine!

they should be fine
they should be fine just charge them at 1 amp from now on only charge at 4.5 amps if needed right before a racee and your batts are dead in your transmitter.

the point of a slow charge is they last longer.
with a faster charge they will go flat quicker.

they're still ok for use, but im sure that in a couple of months you'd need to replaced them already.

I use NiMh AAs for my transmitter. Usually I charge them at 1.5amps, sure you can charge them slower but could spend most of the day waiting for them to finish. Usually at 1.5 it could take around 1 hour. The quicker you charge though the quicker they can discharge.
If you were worried about charging them before a race I would suggest a 2nd set. So you can keep a fully charged set in your box.
I don't know what radio you have but mine uses the standard 8 AA holder that Radio Shack sells so a battery change is as easy as that. If you don't use that holder it still might be good to get if you want to charge a 2nd set.
For bigger races with 10 cars in a race I tend to use throwaways. They put out higher voltage.

higher voltage would do what? i dont think they would do much at all.
