I have my dad do the holes on my car now...last time I did it my car looked like a case of motzerrella cheese

He's smart enough to mark the front posts before painting and drilling them after...can't go wrong that way

i got another question, does anyone here drill the holes before painting? Seems like that would make a lot of sense, no?
Sometimes I do, then I just lay masking tape over the outside to keep the overspray down.... Sometimes I'll just mark the body with a sharpie on the outside and make the holes after I'm done... Lately I've just been painting the body, putting tape on top of the body posts, a dab of paint and marking them on the inside that way, understand? The tape is so I don't have paint on top of the body posts.... TC's are a pain to line up correctly until they are cut out....

when i get a shell i cut round the outside and cut the wing off. then i center the bodyshell on the posts and make a small dot with a pen (the dot is on the outside of the shell but on top of the posts) then i take the shell off do the holes, set to the bodyshell height i want then drill the hole for the aeriel, then when the shell is still on i trace arond the wheels and cut on the pen mark then i clean the inside of the shell, dry it, mask it and the paint it (can't go wrong)

I used to paint then mount the bodies...after 18 years i am pretty good at it now...lol! However, now that Protoform bodies have protective film I have started fully mounting and cutting out the bodies before painting. Now the only time I have to mount painted bodies is when I get a professional paint job from Munno Graffics or Painting Roly

i began a process a while back, works well for me. i position the clear body over the car, see where it needs to be, then mark the holes on the outside with a Sharpie. sometimes i drill first, sometimes not...

i never cut any out till after the paint.. keeps the overspray off the sides, plus its much easier to handle during the paint process...

My personal favorites are the Parma Alfa and the ProtoForm Mazda6. I found the best thing is to just try a lot of different bodies and when you find ones you like use them. Also if you have a paint that races at you track reguraly, they normally will give away bodies when they get new ones. It's like an ediction, I know I'm a painter. They will usually be glad to get rid of them. I've seen painters come with at least 5 bodies. To just race one.

racer6888,

I knoiw what you mean. I am a painter also. I just used a new body aboput 2 weeks ago and have already painted a new one and mounted it to try something else. I have been running the Mazda 6, but I am going to give the Parma Alpah a try on the carpet.

The other racers have used normal touring car bodies and there really isnt that much between them. I reckon it is the best sports/GT body on the market.
Looking at your club┤s website it seems to me F360 bodies also are run. What do you think handles better, GT40 or F360?

I have mostly been running PF Stratus 1, Alfa 2.0 at really twisty tracks but i have in real many cases been much faster with Stratus.
Will get a Parma Alfa this weekend and try it sometime, looks promising from what i've heard
