Back in the day we used the plastic center roll out of a paper calculator roll. It is super strong, lighweight, and dyeable (cheap too)-Jeff

The center from the roll of paper (c/c card thermal printers) is about the best you can use. They're free (just ask any retailer next time you're in a store) they're light and like Dub mentioned you can dye them if you want to.

thanks for all the tips guys at my least race i use a rolled up paper towel and duct tape lol but i will be gettin me some pvc hell you could make alot of them with one stick

BRP has some super foam stuff..super light and FIRM..you can't dent it with a fingernail no matter how hard you push...and yet it weighs nothing..
Lots were using that in Cleveland...I think his booth sold out of it as soon as people saw it...
