Set up suggestions
Anyone willing to share a setup for a TC4 tub w/ a 17.5 racing VTA on high traction carpet? I've just got back into R/C and started racing for the first time. Last week a couple guys at the track helped set up my car and WOW what a difference. I'm looking into getting setup tools and would like any of your suggestions for setup values that I can try as a jump start.
Right now I'm at 5 mm ride height, blue springs frt and rear, 1 deg toe frt and rear, and droop set even frt and rear. I just got the XXX Main setup book and I'm getting thru that. As for how it handles now, I don't know what can make it better (lack of experience) but my buddy thinks it pushes a bit. He suggested to try softer springs in the rear, which I'm gonna chance to try out but haven't done yet. Any pointers or suggestions to a new racer would be welcome. Thank you.:) |
Increase the rear toe. Should help the turn in.
Also, you should drop the spring rate on the rear to around 14 lbs. Assuming that you're running Associated springs, the silver is the 14.5. With the softer rear springs, increasing the front droop might also help it on turn in. |

And you should NOT be running negative toe in the front. zero that out, or even run .5-1.0 degress of positive toe in the front.

Thank you. I will try zero to positive 1 degree. Are 0.5 degree increments best to get a feel, or is 1 degree more noticeable?
