That voltage is with no load. As soon as you apply load the voltage will drop. Good batteries with higher C have a greater capacity to deliver higher current, so are able to maintain higher voltage under load.

My first lipos, fully charged and warm, would drop to 3v at 8C load. Now the better ones will stay above 3.5v when subjected to 40 even 50C.
Now that makes sense. Didn't think of Voltage retention under load.

I believe it.

In my planes using round cells and the early lipo, motor quality was critical. Now with 30-40C lipo, cheap chinese motors are ballistic.

About motors. We found that silver cans were as efficient as the cheaper brushless. Some of the competition buggy motors were far more efficient than the cheaper brushless.

I am surprised there is no restriction on battery in the stock classes. Power differences between batteries is far greater than between same size motors.

I can tell you my car feels ( hell fires and CO27's) no different if i run my IP3800 25c and 35c packs as well as my Harris 3200 20c pack. I even hazard a guess that over 5 minutes the lower c rated pack works out better as it doesn't give too much to the motor and it does not over heat as much and slow down as much after 3 minutes or so. Different story altogether with brushless and its efficient drive train. Maybe these bigger 40c packs will make a difference im not sure. Give me about 3 weeks and I will let you know as im gonna get a couple of SMC packs for the state titles in Sept. Still debating as to whether or not to run a brushless set up or not as the brushed Lipo combo is heaps strong for those first 3 minutes and then its a case of keep your nose clean as you slow down and not let too many catch back up.

yea your brushed set up has been flying lately getting some quite good lap times.
do you think the weight difference between the smaller lipo packs would give it the advantage over the larger lipo packs or have you weighted them all the same?

I will be out in the next few weeks in stock,

With a new car, new speedy, new motor and more than likely the new 40C intellect 5000 packs. I reckon I can find some more speed since the last time I was up there just in time for the state title defence

You should be able to get a couple heats in with those batt's, I've been using somewhere between 1200-2000mah I should really take more notice how much I'm putting back into the pack. I've been using a 5200mah 35C.
Hopefully with any luck I'll be able to keep up to you during the states which hopefully shouldn't be to hard as the 2009 RRCSA Stock Tourer championship leader

Scott, run time wont be an issue mate as I ran the 30C versions in the car to win the Victorian State titles last month as well as 2nd at the Muchmore Masters in Sydney the week before them.

I haven't run it yet Rob, I'm sure it will be just as quick as the PHI and hopefully after a play it will be quicker.
