Default What happened to Bolink??

Hi,

I heard that Bolink was having some problems over the last year or so, but I thought they were turning things around, that is until I tried to call their phone number off of their website and it was disconnected.

I also called information for that area of Georgia and that was the only phone number that they had listed.

I e mailed them and I will see what happens.

Anybody know anything about their situation?

I would hate to see a good company go away.

Mike

An active weblink is hardly the sign of a company still being in business. Some URLs stay up for months, even years because of lazy system admins.

There was a big thread on hobbytalk about this....the guy said they were fine, but backorders still went unfilled and he stopped posting.

They have some nifty products, some hopefully they sell the rights to some of the stuff if they do go down the tubes. I wouldn't mind buying some of it myself.

Ok, from what I have heard from sources the founder of BoLink, Bob Rule had passed away several months ago. His son, Steve, has been in charge and is trying to make a decision as to what to do with the company. This is not first hand information, but information from what I consider to be a very reeliable source.

Bob Rule was just inducted into the Smithsonien Instatute a couple of month ago for his Dunkin YoYo's when it come to YoYo's tricks he is the best. He was on the Smothers Brothers show several time and showed Tommy " The YoYo Man" many tricks.
Steve has owned Bolinks for a couple of years.

i had heard a bunch of strange stuff on the Bolink situation recently. i was trying to get a drag class going at our local track and was pricing DragMaster kits (which bolink owns) I had they had money troubles and that orders would ship sometimes and other time it would be a while. They was one guy i know in Crossville TN who got all his orders and was even shipping Bolink stuff to other hobby shops. I thought it was strange Tower Hbbies couldn't get any more Bolink stuff, they discontinue every part when stock runs out, but MSA in Crossville could get plenty enough to ship to other shops.

At one time I beleive Tower/Great Planes had stoped carrying Bolink's stuff because they had so much trouble getting it, basicly they just gave up. Then when Bolink started to turn things around, Tower/GP did not start carrying the stuff...

Last thing I heard resembling anything offical, there was at least one distributer that was handling Bolink stuff, and if you wanted something, you basicly had to get it though them... Now I don't remember the name of the place...

Possibly since then Bolink has hit a down turn again... Was the phone really disconnected, or was it just ringing open? Perhaps they were just on holiday...

I called the number listed on their site... the message I got is/was... 'the number .... has been temporarly disconnected'...

Maybe there is some simple answer such as... maybe they have decided to use only wireless, and they have taken advantage of the new 'portablity' of phone numbers... maybe there some transitional phase... I mean I've never herard the word "temporarly" used in a disconnect message...
