A NON-RC Motor spray/cleaner?
 

Hey I got a question for all yall :)

I am in a pinch, I need some motor spay for racing tomorrow. but my local hobby shop is out. And I do not have time to make it out to the "Out of town" hobby shop to get some.

So... is there a product that either home depot or any other large co. would carry that would be effective for cleaning brushed electric motors????

Go to an automotive store and get some electronic cleaner, it will work on brushed motor.

I used the QD Electronic cleaner from Napa, in a red can.

Wurth brake and contact cleaner.

Yes, the autoparts store has it. It's in a can with all the other brake/carb/etc spray cleaners. Look for a fast dry electrical cleaning spray. Toot a little into the cap on the can and give it a sniff. If it smells just like Trinity buggy blast, then that's the stuff...

Brake cleaner = motor spray, but the hobby companies don't want you to know it ;>

It has to be non-chlorinated,or you'll regret it. Even then be careful around plastics! I use the Napa #4810 Brake Parts Cleaner:D

Carb cleaner's good for bearing's and such. I don't know about plastics though.

You don't want to use carb cleaner on motors, It will desolve the resins & the magnet adhesives. It wll also swell the rubber seals on some bearings.

Brake cleaner is way more harsh, and it will melt your lungs. I have given motor spray to people just so they will stop using brake cleaner around me.

hmm, I wonder if those guys are using the other kind of brake cleaner. I wish there was only one so we wouldn't have this confusion.

Here you go! Same thing as the Trinity stuff. Great for bearings, motors, etc. Not very harsh & can be used indoors without complaints from the wife (my wife specifically). Probably even cost less (I don't know). Autozone sells it. Unfortunately it looks just like the CRC brake cleaner, so be sure to grab the right can when you go to work...
