I have a serrator that fits on a motor and has a plate with slots in it. Good enough for government work.

I have both, as they are different serrations per inch.....I can't remember which is without going out to the shop to look, but I believe one is 56 and one is like 32 or something....I haven't really noticed a performance difference, but it does help if you are trying to reserrate to the same size you have already used.


In the end, both are quality units, as I have two promatch units and two integy units.

Hi, I just got my Trinity Brush Factory 2 (RC4115) and trying to use it for the first time. I noted that there's a slot cutting feature, when i want to make a slot on the brush face, should I split the brush face 50/50 or there's rule of thumbs to do it? Can I do both serrating AND slotting to a brush? Or I should only pick one to do on a brush? Thanks!

When it is time to reserrate, all my friends come visit my pit box to use my promatch tool. have had it for about three years now and still works great.

I haven't heard of anybody slotting and seratting their brushes at the same time. Both operations reduce the amount of surface contact of the brush to reduce brush friction while maintaining sufficient contact to conduct without arcing.

You may want to ask this question over at Big Jim's forum on RC-Cars.net - I'm sure someone has tried and can give you first hand experience. If not there are a lot of guys there with Dynos that can try and tell you the results.

who has the promatch one? I checked there website, but they only have the bit(is it dremel)??? Does KT have the tool?

Yes, you can serrate, then slot the brush. Almost all slotted brushes that you buy, are serrated...

This is just a theory, but maybe when a brush has just a little serrations left, but is contoured to the comm, that brush may carry more current since electricity travels on the SURFACE of a conducting material and not Through. With serrations, the current can travel over the valleys in the serrations and conduct to the comm over more area, rather than just the perimeter of the brush, (or however the contact patch is....)
