Questions?? Which speed controller

I would like to have opinions on the follow speed controllers before I part with my hard earned cash.

Team wave RB50 also what are the 10.5 motors like?

GM 120

and speed passion pro2.0

Cheers in advance

Hi,
Donīt know much about the Team Wave,
I use the GM 120 and have to tell you it's great, I'm very happy with it.
The SP GT 2.0 itīs very good also but somewhat limited in face of the GM, also it's the same as the Hobbywing wich is a bit cheaper. For stock racing I think the GM is a better option due to the dinamic timing.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

There is only 2 options in my opinion.
1 The Tekin RS Pro
2 Speedpassion 2.0 / Hobbywing Xerun 120 amp as a cheaper alternative but same features.

Tekin RS Pro.
Today compared the Tekin RS Pro with a GM Genius 120.
On the best matched cells the GM was 0,3 sec slower than the Tekin RS Pro on training cells that are not matched and don't have there power any more.
Same car was used and same tires.
First started with the GM. After several test 15,5 sec fastest lap.
Than the Tekin 15,2sec fastest lap.
Than tried the GM again buth we didn't go faster wile the Tekin was again faster. even when the tires were almost gone.
So Tekin is fot me nr 1.
it's also smaller and lighter.

He used the latest software with mode 6 and with several settings changed. It's not my speedo so i don't now what he did, bud i do now that he did everything to get more power.
The car was in the slow part of the track much slower than the Tekin.
The Tekin is corner out and the slow part a lot faster.
Better acceleration, drives smoother and reacts better on the throttle.
Now the owner of the GM Genius want's 2 Tekin's. He has 1 GM and 1 Tekin.
As the new turbo comes on the speed control, the GM is history.
He will only now use the GM for the biggest tracks.
This sunday he has a race and he will use his Tekin because the track looks like our track.
Same FDR and so.

The GM has the problem with accelerating.
It starts slow and than it accelerates fast but than the Tekin has already a head start.
I drove against him and i drove away from him ashe used his GM.
Corner out was to slow. tried everything to get it faster.
Also the soft start is a disaster. When you do it wrong the car don't even drive away normal.
I'm happy that i don't have a GM. When you see the settings that you can change it's limited in some things that i want to change and the things you can change are to complicated as you don't now what you do.

On the long strait the GM is fast but that is the only place were the GM is fast.
On our track the strait is to short and i.m faster with my Tekin than a GM on it.

also the Tekin software is a lot better to understand.

Also do i love the service of Tekin.
The best i got.

Interesting, thats exactely the oposite of what im feeling. Im using the GM120 and i have great punch but i lack a bit of top speed. But i never use program 6 (way too soft). This is with 9.5 and lipo. I would guess with 5 cells it should be better using the hotter programs (prog 8 or 6 into 3) and not the slower ones?

Have you tried that?

BTW do you run 5m heats?

Have used the following:

Tekin RS pro ... very good, user friendly, firmware upgradable, small, support 2S - 3S lipo officially -> highly recommended if you have the cash.

SPGTv1.0 ... cheaper than Tekin, bigger in size, hand program card is very handy, support 2S- 3S lipo -> a very good value ESC

Hobbywing 35A ... very cheap in price yet very usable. sensorless design -> a super value if you are on a tight budget.

I havent used the Team Wave ESC, but I know they are based in Hong Kong. However, I havent seen anyone using this ESC locally, so no comment there.

Tekin RS or RS Pro! You will only need to buy it once.

Tekin RS/Pro is very good for small tracks unfortunately not for the large tracks we have in Europe.
On small tracks or indoor tracks is very good and have the extra advantgae of the size

Tested 5m runs.
normally 6m heads.
we tried everything to get more power.
but the Tekin is so much faster that the GM can't keep up with it.
The straight is to short at our club so the extra timing will help the GM.
On a longer track the GM was faster.
At smaller tracks the Tekin is by far the nr1.
In all my races this year with the Tekin i was faster than the GM.
Also faster than a driver that uses the settings of a team driver.
I past him on the strait.

True bud there is coming new software for more power on the strait.
They will use it by the Reedyrace.

Tekin is for me nr 1 by far.
Service, smallest speedo, easy to adjust and the updates with new software is for free.
GM you must pay to update with new firmware, lrp can't be updated.
Also listens Tekin to his customers and makes the software the way so everybody kan work with it.

yust a short time nnick and you have more power on the bigger tracks.
