HPI Pro4 and LIPO help???

I hope someone can help me out. I haven't raced in a year but want to still use my Pro4 to race with. I don't exactly have the money to buy a new car. Setup is great and it runs well, but I would like to use LIPO. Has anyone got a lipo battery into it? I can't find a battery that will fit. I have to run a hard case lipo. If you have been able to get a hard case lipo to fit, can you post some pictures & what pack you are using. Any help would be great! Thanks..

I use Yeah Racing 3200 and Team Orion 3200 lipo's in my pro4 with the stock battery holder.

Ok Great, Only LIPO's I can find in my Area are square not round on the edges so I'll find me some round ones like that.

I've modified an old RC10 battery holder for some lateral stability. I've seen way too many batteries come sliding out for my taste.

Cool Lipo holder there. Looks neat

I dont really understand why you'd be having issues fitting a lipo in there. The top deck is plenty high enough to fit the largest 2s packs. I use strapping tape to hold down my batteries without any issue.

I can use tape but my concern is same with pejota. The battery I have is right next to my shaft and can hit it if it moves just a little bit and then is right on the edge of the bottom frame. I have a reedy 5000 pack right now and have been trying to find ways to fit it in. pejota had a good idea and I'll see if I can try that.

The Pro 4 actually has plastic cleats you can mount to the chassis to keep stick packs locked in. Lipos are wider than a stick pack and won't work with the cleats.

Found that out the hard way after i ordered the plastic sprue with the cleats. :weird:

yea that was my first wrong assumption.. The cleats should work perfect for the orion 3400 pack but if I want to use my 35c Reedy I need to have something like what you are using to hold it in place.

Im with pejota on this one as well. I use the Associated battery holders in my tc5 with lipos and it works great. Another option when I had Pro4 was taping the battery to the battery strap. That way you can take it completely out of the car for servicing.

I used an Orion 4800 LiPo for last years Challenge..it fit fine...I did make an aluminum battery hold down to keep it secure side to side... No problem against the shaft.

I'll have to take a photo of mine. I have servo mounts mounted next to the driveshaft to keep the battery from hitting it. No problems at all. Just use the holes there.

Another good idea!
