As they say, "You can't make everyone happy", or "One mans loss is another mans gain".

I have heard of more people leaving 1/12 or not wanting to race 1/12 or WGT simply because of 4-cell NiMH batteries compared to people thinking of quitting because of LiPo and Bar cars not having a clear LiPo option right now.

This is a great announcement or ROAR's part, I'm happy they listened to the manufacturers and consumers alike. Be patient, take a step back, observe, and rethink any decision you make. Since you've been a part of 1/12 racing for so long, your local racers would lose out on your knowledge and experience because of a decision based on market demand, and you would miss out on the new challenge from a new power source.

Again - great to see this announcement.

Shooting an idea or just evolution in the head b/c its not what you want isnt right for the hobby, guilty as charged myself. However all this anti-change is borderline hypocrisy. Every1 is quick to grab the latest greatest car, radio, speedo, motor, tires, body etc. but when rules change to follow the evolution, it evokes a smear campaign in disapproval. should we all be runnin double deck, mech speedo, 6cell nicad, RS540, TOJ bodied '12 scales'? no b/c the hobby evolved and the rules followed, regardless of who set them.

this was done with the understanding that nimh based RC racing is going into the history books. that like with everything, we all want to go faster and buy the latest greatest stuff, and the manufs want to sell you that product eagerly. this is actually where i admire the folks you all consider 'bashers'. they dont care, they run what they want/have.

all this will pass, there will always be people who bust on changes in the hobby and how it affects racing. these folks have beat up on elec speedos, 7cells, 2wd/4wd bugs, chicken or fish, buggy conversions (stadium trucks), 1.9-2.0-2.1-2.2, nicad/nimh, 24deg vs 36deg, narrow front truck wheels vs standard, michael jackson (black or white), 4 vs 6cell, capacity wars, touring vs pan, life or choice, 200 vs 235, brushless, lipo, iraq or afghanistan, etc.

think we all gotta remember its a hobby, a hobby we love. and thats why we race.

For all you T-Plate racers would a pack that has the following size fit in your car H26mm x W47mm x L47MM. This would be one half of the saddle pack. If we were to do such a pack it would be 3800/40C and would require 2 jumper wires to hook up the halves in parallel thus adding resistance which would make the voltage lower. Lower capacity also equals to lower voltage. This would mean that racers using this pack would have less available power than those using the one piece 12th scale pack that is 5000+ at 40C.

It has been proven that you can fit the one piece pack on one side and your electronics on the other side and have a good handling car so this should be the solution of choice.

Just so we can all be on the same page and not have to explain ourselves each time:

"Single cell" is any pack regardless of configuration that has a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts.

"2 cell" is any pack regardless of configuration that has a nominal voltage of 7.4 volts.

Honestly, I don't see a problem with the 3.7v change with Lipo. I actually can't wait!! Slightly slower speeds, lighter cars with less wear and tear. I'm all for it!!!

Also, for those die-hard T-Bar guys out there (I was one of them) - Try some of these new link cars and I think you will be really suprised. With the majority use of the Pink, Magenta, Double pink tires on all 4 corners the way the car needs to roll and compress to work the tires correctly has went the way of the link. Yes, I've been die-hard t-bar for years but I must say after driving the link car I built for myself at the ROAR Carpet Nats I can't say I will miss a t-bar... I know, Bruce and Frank and jumping up and down right now as they converted the most die-hard t-bar guy...lol... It's true and I don't plan on running a t-bar car at any race next year reguardless of 4-cell or Lipo....

Link cars, 3.7v Lipo and BL I think will be a great combination for racers and racing in 09 that will hopefully bring a lot of the fun and competition back to the tracks!!

I don't think ROAR should allow saddle pack Lipo as there's a lot to worry about there to keep the parity for the performance between brick and saddle - Saddle has extra wires/case size so what do you do?? Make their case larger to make it equal?? 3.7v brick with ROAR's set dimensions and be done with it (this coming from a guy with about 50 t-bar cars sitting here..lol..)

Congrats to ROAR on this one!! I hope IIC, Cleveland, Snowbirds all follow suite!!

Hey guys, Im wondering what ESCs will work below 4V? A friend of mine tried using 1 3.7V cell, but the ESC wouldn't work properly.

Any of them will if you use a booster or receiver pack.

For the Xray X10, does anyone know if the 1s pack will fit on one side of the bar?

As stated all will work with the use of a booster or reciver pack. From what I've read the Novak 4-cell gtb will work without the booster/receiver pack.

It fits fine in the XII 1/12, and handles great:

Thanks nexus. You or ROAR should make an effort to show that picture everywhere 12th scale racers might look on the net.
Does the battery stay in position? It looks like it would move in a crash, much like simply taping a lipo into a TC.

ROAR will have a cow over that picture! No LiPo sack, as well as charging a LiPo while it is still in the car. Can't tell from the picture, but maybe also charging at more than 1C. Don't you know that will cause the destruction of the known universe? Oh the humanity....
