Default Cogging

I have the following LRP Spere Esc & Orion 17.5T BL.

Everything was fine and when I went to go out for the next race the car would not move. I pulled the shell off and if i hold the controller above neutral the motor will not move, however if i start to rotate the spur it's ok but only under no load.

I can can take the motor to top speed and nearly back to zero without a problem holding the car up. What I can't do is hold it just above neutral because it does what I would call cogging. I have tried setting up my ESC again.

Can someone with more experience tell me if they think it's the ESC or motor.

Thank you

We have had similar problems with the Quark and LRP ESC's. It does have a bit to do with the gearing as it is quite low with 17.5 motors. With the speed passion motor we re shimmed the rotor so the rotor sits closer to the sensors. This helped with the cogging a fair bit. Im not sure about the Orion motor, could be a similar problem to the SP motor so might be worth a shot.

Any possibility it is a bad sensor wire? I have had a few go bad before with similiar results.

I have to agree with rockstar If everything was working fine and suddenly it won't start, that to me suggests a bad or unplugged sensor wire...

I had a Novak SS speed control fail with those exact symptoms. Car will not move from a standstill, but give it a little push and it goes. Then at low speeds it was cogging badly. If I picked it up and gave it a bump it would seem normal. Novak replaced the ESC and told me it was a bad phase. Everything works fine now.

I had cogging with my mamba max and it turned out to be cheap cells. when your BL motor is starving for power it will cogg. when I get better cells the problem went away.

I could be wronge on what's happening with you

I had the same problem with my lrp and it was the sensor wire.
