Default Help for an RC newbie

Hi All,

I am new to the RC scene and I am looking to get an Electric On-Road car so I can tear up street in front of my place. I have always wanted one of these cars and I want to know what would be a good starter car.

For starters I want to get a RTR car that I can upgrade as I go.

What can someone recommend as a good start.

Budget is around 250.00

First thing I'd ask is do you think you may want to end up racing later?

I know that RCGT is really popular out there. If you do think you may want to race eventually, I'd spend a little more now, so you don't need to spend a lot on upgrades.

EDIT: I just noticed that Tamiya is release and TA-05 ver II. THe original TA O5 was a very good car, the new version should have some updated parts, might be worth looking into.

I find it's often best to see what people around you are racing, even if you're just planning on driveway runs at first. You'll have access to used parts, tips, and you'll already have a proper car if you do decide to race. Check your lhs, track or forum and see what people are into.

Locally, we've got a decent group of M03, F1, and RC18 racers. Certainly the AE kits are the right price.

That being said, I've got my eyes on a Tamiya Mini!

Are the RS4 RTR a good platform to start with?

I would go with the hot bodies cyclone S rtr because hpi pro 4 suspension parts are the same and are easy to find. And you can later upgrade it to be a very competitive race car .
