Yeah if you're going to run it on the road, I'd put tape over the chassis holes

What would be better:
The front one way unit
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53833
or
Front Direct coupling (spool)
http://www.speedtechrc.com/store/ebp...id=865&id=5802
Also, if I purchase either of these, will I be able to just install them or will I need to make adjustments or purchase something else to make them work right?
I'll be running on a medium sized carpet track if that helps..
Thanks

As far as compatibility...yes they will all work. except V2 uses a larger pulley. TA05 original has smaller pulley.

Zac, they are both a user preference thing. But generally speaking, base on feedback from other racers and my own experience. A one way set-up is harder to drive overall mainly because you are driving without brakes since your car will spin out when brakes are applied. Spool is very close to running ball diff but will handle more aggressively but in return can put more stress on your drivetrain. Even most pro drivers stay away from one way because of its nature but again if you are good with throttle control and hardly uses brakes, one way might work for you. If you are just starting out, I would suggest to stick with ball diff setup then maybe jump to spool when you believe it can be an advantage at a certain point.

Tamiya sells the spool kit with a pulley, and the part number for that pulley should be listed in it b/c it's sold as a single spare as well, somewhere in their replacement parts catalog. I don't have the numbers but I saw em both.

or would these 3mm metric gage balls work or do they have to be special type ball? These are off Amazon.com

Are you referring to the small diff balls? Just replace the tiny balls, I think you can get the ceramic type (stronger) for about $20. Probably cheaper at your local hobby store. Or even the regular ones for less.

You will need to get the 37t one way pulley (can be use for spool also). You cant use the one from the ball diff because the center hole diameter is smaller.
