I decided to try out the free version and also ordered the adapter. Playing with the keyboard is not horrible but not easy either.

The cars do seem a little floaty as others talked about. I am not sure it would be possible to traction roll a car on carpet with the current physics model.

I just want to know if the front bumper and the boards are velcro? Glancing blows that you would think the car would just deflect off, turn the car and face it directly into the boards. Even at slows speeds just trying to get back onto the track. Just gets annoying, but is motivation to not hit the boards.

you can traction roll. :weird:

debating trying this out, any feedback as to whether it is really worth it or helpful? How much are the add ons to buy? If it's relatively realistic and getting better, I'd consider it as a practice tool, but I also have a track I can go practice at less than half an hour from my house.

texastc 04-08-2012 10:08 PM

add ons.
You dont have to buy any of them. You get a VRC/generic brand of everything with subscription. For Spec class, the chassis of all brands are free. If you want you can purchase more chassis, motors, esc's etc etc with either real money, or VRC Euros which you earn just for participating in weekly and monthly official timed events ( which are also free ) The Euros add up fairly quick especially if you do well and enter several events per week. I earn about $4-5 per week just running weekly events and getting in top 40-60, Generally I buy a new track every so often if a new one comes out.
As a practice tool I like it. You have to do set ups for each car and track, and its pretty stinking detailed on the adjustments you can make. Maybe not exactly real life, but close enough. Plus when I cant get to the track ( which is about once every 2 weeks) VRC soothes the urge. the 1/12 scale is my favorite right now, mod and 10.5. Lots of TC racing both electric and Nitro plus 1/8 scale too if that's your thing.

oceanhighz 04-08-2012 10:24 PM

thanks, I'm more into TC and 1/12, although I've only been running my TC lately and my F1. 1/12 I'm taking a break until the fall when carpet picks back up. So, when you say spec racing..... what do you mean (17.5 or what)? To run different motor turns does that require purchasing? Sorry, just trying to understand how this works before I jump in and get nickel and dimed to run other stuff like I've heard others say.

Been running carpet all winter, mainly 1/12 and more recently getting into TC. I'll be practicing carpet, and getting into asphalt this summer, so this should help me out some.

Just download the trial like I did. It is free and all you have to do is register on the site. For racing the spec classes(13.5 1:10tc, 10.5 1:12) you do not need to purchase anything. It comes with enough tracks to keep yourself occupied and really try things out.

I am preferring the 1:12 right now. For some reason it is easier to drive with the keyboard. I am actually looking forward to getting the USB adapter and really seeing what this is like. With no on road near me this is great to be able to race against others instead of the clock all the time.

You ll like it a lot more with your radio. Keyboard is a joke, you'll figure that out as soon as the adapter gets there. I spend most of my time in 1/12, I don't race 1/12 in real life but I race F1 and WGT. So 1/12 is close enough. I only mess with the other classes for official events to earn euros. Mod 1/12 is a blast, especially on tight carpet tracks like LRP 2007 and 2012 and the Haarlem track. The new asphalt Bangkok track is blazing fast too. Lot of fun but its an add on track. Pm me when yall go full time, I have a club we can run multiplayer.

For those that know.
How long does the Radio adaptor take to come in to the us?
I am going on three weeks...:(

Not what I wanted to hear...:weird:

Also what are ways to get the frame rate up? I am running everything turned off and the lowest resolution and the game is just playable?
I am running:

AMD Phenom II X4 840T 2.90ghz
Ram 6.0 GB
ATI Radeon HD 4200
Windows 7 64 bit

Seems like something is preventing the game from running like it should.

syndr0me 04-09-2012 12:58 PM

The way the game deals with board taps is why I keep quitting. It's terrible.

syndr0me 04-09-2012 12:58 PM

Disable vsync.

It is very frustrating. Something that I know in real life would just deflect you end up nosed into the board and have to hit the spacebar.

may be the video card. I have a ATI 5570. All the rest of your system is better than mine.

My adapter took a little over a week to get here. Last I heard is that they only ship one day a week. You can check on the website and see which day it is, I believe its either Tuesday or Fridays

CR0SS 04-09-2012 11:47 PM

The game is actually enjoyable using the keyboard. I can't wait to get the adapter and start using my radio. I wonder how much better my laps times will be if at all.

dennisV 04-10-2012 12:19 AM

I don't like the game. The cars seem to float, I don't like it that way. I do have a adapter etc from the original VRC and have played with it, but it's not my thing. Plus the game still has bugs which shouldn't be in a 'simulator'. Plus the interface is crap, it's not 'sharp'.
