Question, I just purchased the ball diff, does anyone know what spur gears are compatible. What I am looking to do is find a Metal spur or at least a heavy duty spur. The track has 2 areas that are just slick as all get out. I barely touch the throttle and I am spinning like a top! I am using the soft rears and tried different fronts. I have the rear weighted, front weighted and even had a guy make a custom weight for the center of the F10. Most of the guys are using their slipper as traction control, not to mention I think I am the only F10 left, So if I can get a better spur that would be great. Thanks!!!

Interesting news for the HPI guys- the F10 finishes 1st and 2nd in the rubber class at the previous round of the UF1 Series! One was close to stock and the other was with the Exotek chassis. Pretty impressive considering how competitive the Tamiyas are.

Those are some interesting turnbuckles on that car in the top picture...
They change the caster?

Neither cars were mine but I believe you are correct. As the tires move back that would give more neg camber as well, it appears, for more high speed steering which was a good move for this track we raced.

the car in the top picture is mine... yes the turnbuckles are for adding more caster. box stock the F10 tends to wander on the straights so i wanted to add more caster.

the improvement in handling is huge. that race that MikeR was referring to was the first time i raced an F10 (built two nights prior). in the first of three mains of the UF1 format i finished 5th, nowhere near the pace of the frontrunners. so for the 2nd main i made the turnbuckle mod using some trackside tools (cutters and a body reamer). that enabled me to mix it up with the leaders and ended up 3rd. then in the final main i was able to finish first.

the car comes stock with roughly 5 degrees of caster but after my mod it had about 15 degrees.

in that race i ended up 1st overall in rubber but my car wasn't the fastest F10 in the field. Hiro's car, 2nd overall (shown in the bottom pic) was still faster but had bad luck with traffic and pits. he didn't have the caster mod but he did have the Exotek chassis.

for the next race i'm getting rid of my silver can motor and installing an LRP 21.5. hopefully that'll let me keep up with Hiro's car.

the diff is also compatible with Kimbrough gears. they're also plastic gears but you can fit 12 diff balls instead of 8.

Hey guys,

I've finished putting together my Fx10 with the exotech chassis and the yea racing upgrades, NOW i have a small problem where i'm trying to figure out what servo to use as i cant seem to fit my FLETA 3.0 ESC on the car :S i could mount it vertical but then i'm sure the f104 shell wont fit

Any recommendations on what servo to get and where and how to mount the ESC for better weight? Also any pictures would help

Any low profile servo like the KO2143 can work in this situation. Savox and Futaba make one also.

You can also just try adding some spacers to the ear so that your stock servo is moved away from the servo posts- hopefully this gets you the extra room you need for the esc. The body sits pretty high- you may actually be able to sit the esc on the side as well.
