The Formula 10 looks cool.

I predict the initial release will be an RTR much like the HPI switch and others to keep it new to rc, novice friendly, it will most likely have updates to follow.

HPI will probably offer a kit version a touch later.

Im keen to get one when they are released.

Thumbs up

Was at LongBeach GrandPrix. Got to see the F1 chassis in the Display. Very nice looking kit.

I've been looking back on this and really, I'm surprised at what HPI has been pulling out of the bag lately. The Cup Racer was definitley a very nice piece of kit, the Savage Flux and now this! They are really stepping up their game!!

Has anyone got a general idea on prices as of yet?

Hey guys, more info here: http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.php?partNo=102870

some of this is subject to change, right now we (I) don't know if it will be 2008 or 2009 spec, but the capability is certainly there to release different versions for different eras. Grooved tires will be options, and there will be a low-nose version nose (the pictures show a high-nose version) so draw from that what you will

AFAIK right now this will be a kit with no electronics included, official F1 licensing for pre-painted bodies would be astronomically high so if it's sold in pre-painted RTR form it'd probably be with generic bodies (blue/white, red, yellow/red/blue, silver/red/black, etc.) but this is just speculation.

I've already started saving up

It says it requires 4-cell/4.8v pack. All my packs are 7.2v lipo hardcase now.

Woops, you beat me to it. I noticed the 4-cell specification too. How's everyone feel about that little detail? Kinda makes it difficult to run the other F1 chassis' out there in the same class, doesn't it?

If you look at the battery retainers they have fences on the outside to hold the 4 cell in between them. If you remove the fences or if HPI has planned ahead with separate retainers with no fence. You will be able to fit a 6 cell size pack in the car.

^^^ this

I believe wider bodies will be available to fit 6-cell packs, and from what I've seen 6-cell-size packs (LiPo or NiMH) will fit under the narrow body if you have Corally plugs and carefully soldered on (low-profile) battery wires. If you try to fit a standard stick pack with the wires coming right out at the end they wires will definitely push the body out.
