balancing your tc
 

Just curious to what methods you guys are using to balance your tc's as best as possible?

Do they make mini pad scale? or just weight individual components.

The easiest way to balance you car from left to right is with acouple of "Buttons" from either Hudy or IRS. You can find them at stormerhobbies pretty cheap.

i use the hudy`s myself, i heard there is a better alternative to the hudy buttons at amain hobbies.

Racers forget to balance the front to rear weight and not just the cross weights.
This is very important.

Scales is the best way on a level board or surface that can be repeated.
Tire wear (foams), spring sag, shocks pack, etc can change your wheel weights that may affect the vehicles handling.
Needs to be checked after every run.

This is what I used for a while then just opted to sell them. Also by using only two of the four you can check for tweak. I now just use the hudy buttons as mentioned by others. Each scale holds upto 500grams so one scale couldn't give you the total wieght of a TC.

That is not a bad idea. You can get pocket digital scales from ebay fairly cheap. I'll look into getting 4 of them.

go to harbor freight around $12 for pocket scale....

cheapest ebay scale I could find that was located in the US.

This came out to $32 shipped for four of them if they do not combine shipping. I sent a message to the seller asking to combine shipping. Harbor freight would be around $52 after taxes. I'm going to try this.

I personally use the Hudy Balance Pins on my Losi... The chassis comes drilled with Front/Rear Right/Left balance holes already, so the pins are convenient. I have seen the scales being used as well, and have also tried them myself, but make sure that the weighing face of the scales are exactly the same height in comparision to each other or the tweak/balancing will be out.

All you need is a leveling board with four thumb scews and four scales.

No food scales!!

You need to find 4 of the same scales that weight in troy oz,as well grams,oz etc. also, max capacity at least 600 gram or more per scale.

I used the Hudy pins to balance the chassis laying out my components and balance weights, this doesnt change once its set. Then use 4 scales to ensure each tire is carrying its portion of the load. It is quite surprising how a quarter turn of the shock collar will make. It is also surprising how repeatable it is but this does have to be checked every time a suspension part is replaced. You can also see the tweek pretty quick with this.
