so finally gave in and got a pro. Started the build and somehow lost the front wheel little washer spacer thingy. The one that goes between the front wheel hub and the bearing. I have one but cannot find the other one. I started with two, poured the bag out on the manual to build the shock, cleaned up and only had one left!!! AAARRRRGGGHHH!
So is it necessary to have them or can I get away without it?

It could also cause steering issues if the one side is binding more than the other and most of all slow you down.....

Looks great Mike! I hope to be ordering one soon 2 questions though: 1) Does it come with the CF brace on top of the servo mounts? and 2) What front suspension was Hayato using? Looks pretty interesting.

I liked Dave's modified front suspension as well. Got to see that one close up when I was out there. I plan to build up my next F1 with some sort of link type upper arm mainly for durability...those Tamiya F104 upper arms are awfully thin and tend to bend easily.

Oh one more question Mike...on the new F1R kit can we get one anodized in black instead of blue...that would make it look a lot nicer for people converting the F104X1 since Tamiya decided not to go with blue on that one.

The pro kit is pretty much race ready with aluminum parts, full set of bearings, carbon fiber chassis, etc. The Ferrari kit comes with fiberglass chassis, cheaper parts like an all plastic diff and some bushings instead of bearings. I don't think the Ferrari comes with a oil filled damper either. If you are going to be serious about racing, you will need some upgrades to the Ferrari kit, like those I mentioned for the pro kit.
