You guys think the BT45b is the "fan car"? If so it is not. The stone thrower was the BT46b of 1978. And it looks different:

Nevertheless the body of the BT45 is a beauty and makes me think about getting a F104W...

Yes that is what I replied to

BT46B

The famous FAN car

BT45 was when Brabham changed from Cosworth (in BT44) to Alfa Romeo, hence the red look instead of the 44's white look.

That is not the FAN car in the picture, that is the 45, and the first attempt and a ground effect car from Brabham.

I just wish there were some rear tire options for the F104W...Which reminds me...I still gotta finish up my Lotus F104W

I agree
Current available F1 rears look too small for the 'Historic' range of cars.
My Tyrrell P34 only looks right when I place Pro10 wheels on the rear, but then the tyre profile is wrong.

If you go with foam tires the Tamiya rear foams are almost as large as the rear rubber tire for the F104w. The fronts are a little too large and would need some truing as I recall. But I'd rather not have to go to foams and deal with the tire wear due to the lack of ride height adjustment available on the front end.

It is the Brabham BT45B, out around the same time as the Tyrrell P34 and the Lotus 78.

Oh I see, no I guess not. That was way before my time Looking forward to see if Tamiya gives it a go then.

TRG came out with a new W tire. I hear the Shimitzus and Rides are decent though they are designated as 103 tires.

I have a set but havent had a chance to run them yet. They seem a little on the heavy side but they do look nice and are very easy to glue up.

I'm running 86 spur / 34 pinion / FDR 2.53
Novak ballistic 21.5, no timing
I've used this combination for every track from very large parking lots to smaller carpet track and everything in between... I'm not very anal about gearing

I got an F104X1 on the way and I'm trying to figure out gearing. Are there aftermarket spurs that will fit? What is the stock pitch on the included spur(s)? Lastly, what gearing should I run for a small track with silver can motor?

Thanks!
