any recommended diameter before the grip comes in?
Sounds like we were experiencing the same thing...the line adjustments are scary for sure. Unfortunately, this was with my F103 at the Tamiya track in AV and I've done very little running with my F104 on foams so I can't give you advice on optimum diameters for that. But when you do wear the tires down and they start feeling better, measure and write that diamter down. I never did lol

On a side note: This weekend, I ran the option tires for the first time. Soft rears with the inserts they came with and kit fronts during an overcast morning and they car was great. Could be better but on power rear traction was vastly improved. I ended up shreading the rears within four runs when the track temps came up.

just thought I would share my experience with the new tamiya soft rear tires.

got to run them over the weekend for 3 races. The first race was in the evening with a little heat still in the track, air temp about 23 degrees celius. Track is consider low to medium grip asphault.

Tires were cleaned with simple green and car had amazing traction for entire race and felt really planted in the rear. Set lap times about .4sec off my personal best. Not bad considering haven't run car for 4 weeks.
For the next race, tried the tires with traction compound, and the car again felt good, if anything, really really grippy in the rear. Lap times were ok, other then driver error.
For the last race, I had hoped to heat them up a little with gripper on them to see what would happen, but as it was, didn't give it enough time for the traction compound to soak in and got hit early which striped a spur gear.

I did race with the F60 rear's on the car with traction compound on the night as well, and the car wasn't as quick as with the soft rear as reflected in my lap times.

I will continue to use them at night, my only concern being they did show a fair bit of wear on them after 3 run's.

Hey Aussierevo howd you go with those decals you bought the other day from Ebay? Are they worth getting or are the D-Drive decals better?

cheers

I haven't had a chance to use them yet. I do think the quality is comparable to the D-Drive decals, so I'm hopeful of good results. Will keep you posted

Hi. Has anyone tried the Tamiya Option Foams? What's the difference between Type A and B compounds? Which one is softer? Thanks for the help.

As i know it A foams are softer than B foams.

B foams has more rubber content than A foams.

B foams are supposed to work better on asphalt.

A foams are supposed to work better on carpet.

However, in reality I mixed them up depending on the conditions of the track, be it asphalt or carpet. Hope this helps.

According to the posted rules, there are two F1 classes: F103/4 foam and F104 rubber.

Thanks Arahawak. This confirms a lot of things for me but how do the A foams in particular compare to the Kit foams. Are they considerably superior in terms of grip and wear? Thanks
