You are too funny! Let me know when you get the F104 built and run. I would be interested to see how they run. Looks like you got alot of Hop-Ups(TCS Legal).

You know that as long as this is the tamiya F1, they will not release a carpet version in 3 months, then a rubber version a month later, then a Euro outdoor version another month, then release a 2010 F104R version at the end of 2009.... (OK...enough the DARKSIDE joke)

All of us has the "needed" options...possible more coming up but I doubt they are needed....but the BLUE just looks good, thats why we get them, beside, they are cheaper to buy now....I think you need to talk to Stegan or King first since I think they will get theirs ready WAY before me...I have a upcoming daughter need to "FIX" first...or, you can give me a offer for my F104 package...NIB.

Has anyone tried to install brushless unit to this F104 yet?

I'm currently having my built slowly (due to time constraints) and I don't want to use those Brushed Motors anymore.

Friend and I were discussing on which one to put; Tekin, KO, Yeah Racing etc.... So many ESCs, but no one here has ever tried to install an actual Brushless ESC to it.

Please help.
Thanks in advance!

Default Question Regarding Tamiya Gears

I understand the gears that come with the car are different than the normal gears we use in TC, 48/64 pitch. Is there an adaptor to switch it over? Or can someone tell me where to get an assortment of pinions needed. I will be running Tekin RS / 17.5 in it.

Default Rubber Tires

Does anyone know if the Cross Tire/Wheels are good for High grip asphalt in hot temps and will they work on the F104 without altering anything back to the F103 parts (which may not be good for the handling on the F104). Or any word on new wheels that the rubber tires can be mounted on for the F104?

The pinions that will fit are Tamiya 0.4module. They come in sets of two and don't cost a whole lot on eBay...

A couple companies sell an adaptor ring to allow you to use standard 48 and 64 pitch pinions. D-drive sports has them for sure.

No it is a straight axle car. You can't put rear toe in it.

94eg - Do you know what spur the kit will have? And what pinions would be a good starting point for 17.5?

104t and 93t spurs and a 25t pinion...same as the F103R. Gear for your straight. The 17.5 is a LOT of motor in this car and can be a bit much if ogeared to high. Just make sure you gear it to stop pulling about 3/4 or so down the straight...anymore and it will be difficult to drive consistently.

Core Creations - It comes with 104t & 93t spurs + 25t pinion? The only option pinions I can find are 30,31,32,33. I am thinking I will need to get the adaptor for 48 & 64. More gearing options that way.

The smaller 0.4mod pinions in Tamiya's linup are from way back in 1990 and called the "RD" series and go from 20T up to 27T. Tamiya's smaller pinions are always steel. The 28/29T set is steel and came out several years later. Everything 30T and up is made from aluminum. There are also some limited edition single pinions with a bronze hard anodized finish that cost a lot more. These pinions are sold in signles and come in random sizes...

Tamiya 0.4mod pinion set part numbers:
20/21T - 53101
22/23T - 53102
24/25T - 53103
26/27T - 53117
28/29T - 53262
30/31T - 53690
32/33T - 53691
34/35T - 53405
36/37T - 53406
38/39T - 53407
40/41T - 53420
42/43T - 53421
44/45T - 53422
46/47T - 53423
48/49T - 53424
50/51T - 53425

Yo...see the link below, the little plastic O-RING is the adaptor, with that O-RING, you can use all the 64P spur gear from robinson or kimbrough...etc

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXN136&P=7

Or use the 3-Racing one..
