Last night i've been been busy with trying several setup changes to my X1 and my fastest lap time improved with 0.8s.
I removed the spacers on the front innerlinks and went from 3mm spacers beneath the damper ball stud on the motor mount to 1.5mm.
Also went from 571/572 to 571/575 tire combination.
Every setup change i've done allways improved my fastest laptimes.
I started with a 14.055s to end up with 13.285s, my goal is to get arround 13s as a fastest laptime.
The motor i used was a brushed formula tuned motor, later on i will be testing with a 21.5T and 17.5T motor in blinky mode.
Our tracksize is 30mx12m.

Why do you say the the body is too narrow to fit the F104 V2? Is it because of the side links? If so, that's unfortunate, as the link rear end is superior to the t-bar on the regular F104, especially outdoors on a parking lot!
Having said that, on these VF1 cars, where is the best place to position the battery? Towards the front with the electrics to the rear, or the other way around, battery in rear, electrics up front? If you must use the t-bar car, will the battery or the esc and receiver interfere with the movement of the t-bar, since everything is mounted inline and over the t-bar?

I hope to use the HPI VTA wheels and tires. They look the closest to late 60's F1 wheels/tires, and should give the car a more scale appearance. The 1/14 semi truck tires are more like the F1 tires of the early 60's, too narrow for a 1967-68 F1 car.

So lightfoot, you haven't said why you say that the VF1 body is too narrow for the F104 V2.........is it because of the side links, or is it the tabs on either side of the chassis for the electrics mounting? If it's the tabs, what if you took the chassis to a machine shop and had them cut those tabs off and sand them; would the body fit the chassis then?

Guys,
what kind of advantage does a F104WGP with wider front have over the narrower F104PRO2?
My local track is outdoor asphalt with medium grip. Folks here tend to switch between rubber and foam tires (depending on race regulations)
Thanks

I've build my V2 with the F103 front suspension and this makes the car super fast.
There is more tuning advance to find the better setup.
In the next couple of weeks i will be testing the V2 with rubber tires and with the narrow configuration.
The critical thing about the WGP version is the T-bar, if you would brake this part cause of a crash it's a hard to find part.
Last race there were 2 pilots who broke this part 3 times in total and they had to search the web to find the correct T-bar.

Thanks for your advice on V2.
Question, does the F103 wider front make the car more stable in and out of corners, hence easier to drive? or does it just give faster corner entry?

From what i know, seen and experienced i think that V2 is the better choice.

But not sure if it's easier, the faster the car the less easier as it carries more speed and it needs faster respons from the pilote.
It all depends on the setup and what your capable of.
The best way to find out is to try it, it doesn't cost much for the entire F103 front suspension.
You can use the F104 front wheels, that's what i always use.
