Anyone have any experience with the roche rapide conversion? I can find the conversion kit around but no spare parts for it. I won't buy it till i can buy some spare u plates or whatever they call them.

Just bought a F104W GP Edition kit with some 3racing hop ups.... going to try the stock Tamiya rubber tires (soft front / hard rear) and the Tamiya stock foam tires (soft front / hard rear again).

I'm going to turn speed passion Reventon PRO ESC w/ Speed Passion 5.0R V3 MMM Competition Motor -- is this setup okay?

Servo - Savox 1251 w/ R603FF Futaba receiver.

Is that a 5 turn motor? ( The speed passion website wasn't so specific). If so, good luck with that. Most people run 21.5 or 17.5 and the lowest i have ever seen anyone drive an f1 car is a 10.5 with a corally NGX (super wide rear foams).

Anyway that's the only thing i would suggest... slower motor, other than that you should be fine.

Yes , they fit ride / f10 / fgx rims. They would probably work well on hot asphalt.
On my indoor, tight , textured surface track, the front deliver less grip than s1 super soft , the rear slightly more grip than s1 super soft. Temp around 25-30*c ambient ....

really? I didn't know because I never own a F1 before, but I just bought 2 FGX + the F104W GP edition. I had a 5 Turn motor in my Team Assoicated B44 so thought maybe that would run good on the F1 hehehe.... wasted my money then......Thanks for the info!

5T motor is too much for a F103/F104 car, if you want to use this 5T or 4.5T brushless motor you should have bought a proten 235 mm car!!

You canīt compare a F104 chassis with a touring car. Itīs pointless.

We are using here 17.5T motors with F103/F104 cars

Very good conversion i have used it in F104 rubbers and F103 foams config, you can buy spares directly from www.roche.hk and they have those U plates and more like the roll "X1 like" damper.

Thanks Yeah a lot of people were screaming at me when I said 5 turn (abt 6700 kv) speed passion motor. I guess I will save that motor for my Team Associated B44 or my Kyosho Lazer ZX-5 Off Road cars

Is there, or has there ever been a gear diff option for the F103 or F104? Would that type of diff even work on an F1 car?

the HPI F10 came with a gear diff - but not a gear diff like you'd see in a TC or even the FGX...

as far as it working on a Direct drive F1 - i doubt you'd be able to get one to fit and even work as well as the diffs on the F103/F104

probably if/when you'd ever see a gear diff on a 12th scale - they you'd know a gear diff would be useful for a F1 (since they are both direct drive chassis)

Tamiyas first F1s all had a gear diff, as did their early 1/12ths, Tamiya only went to a ball diff when they introduced the F101. Today the HPI F10 comes with a gear diff, but it is really only designed to be easy to assemble and for bashing rather than racing. The problem of the open gear diff is there is no way of controlling the diff action, it just runs free and you can't limit the diff action so any wheel slip means you have no forward drive at all until both tyres grip again.
You are never going to see a modern fluid filled gear diff in an F1, purely because you would be adding so much more weight to the rear axle on the diff side you would have to balance it out by adding even more on the other end of the axle, all increasing the rotational inertia of the axle.

d'oh!! forgot about the road wizard being a gear diff

i guess i was blocking out those horrible diffs
