Love your work BP SHADOW Will you be painting and decaling a renualt car with your new decals so we can see what it looks like? The price seems pretty good and they look great quality.

With the Red Bull car did you fit the optional side pods or is that an untrimmed body, just wondering how to do mine.

The 102D I bought from you still has pride of place on my shelf!

Had an okay practice session yesterday with the X1. Unfortunately, I did not have any new tires to practice with so I just spent the day taking big swings at the car to see how changes affected it. At some point, I managed to really screw the car up with changes, but was able to unscrew it and it felt okay again. For the most part, I spent the day just driving the car, getting used to how it feels and getting around the track as fast as I could with what it'll give. There is a Tamiya fun race next weekend, and if the car is somewhat decent on new tires, I will post the setup for those who are interested.

Here's a video that my brother filmed:

Hey Zilladude,
You sure that wasn't me driving your car?
Nah, couldn't be, car was on line the whole time.

Thanks for letting me drive it though, that was very generous/brave of you to hand me your radio.
Car felt pretty dialed to me.
Was fun running with you yesterday.
Blocked and hogged the tight lines as much as I could but always ended up havin to watch you check out as usual.

Should have a pm for you soon.

rtype,

So whats the hot ticket tire setup for tamiya and how are they wearing? Have you found a good weight range for the damper tube yet?

On Saturday, I was using worn out kit/medium fronts with option/soft rears, all with the stock insert.

As for the damper tube, we experimented with all of Tamiya's settings: from light (Tamiya diff lube) all the way to heavy damper grease. I felt that with a softer grease, the car would transition left to right very quickly and could be a handful in the kink/dogleg and through the esses. With medium grease, it felt about right. I then tried hard grease and I believe it mellowed it out too much, to the point that I had to break it loose on purpose to get it to transition...which made it hard to drive.

Also, heavier grease on the front king pins made the steering much more reactive. I am settling with either soft or medium grease.

Default F104X1 battery

rtypec, what battery & plugs are you using on your X1? Very nice job on the build.

The battery is an old (last year) TP with humps molded on the bottom. I honestly can't remember which one it is.

The plugs are KO Propo. They look like black deans plugs but the contacts are at a slight angle so they are not compatible.

Default Battery choice for 21.5 racing

I have a couple of packs for my F1. Been using a 4000mah 25C pack that weighs 7.71 ounces. I also have a little higher quality pack that is 4000mah 35C and weighs 8.68 ounces. Can a 21.5 motor take advantage of the differance of the higher C rating, or would I be better off running the lighter pack?

Hi Rod,

I assume your using Tamiya damper greeses for the damper tube and kingpin?

Cheers
