Diffusers actually work if they are fairly large. I made one, ran it-which stuck the car enough that you could use all the steering it had- and removed it during the same battery. When I removed it, the car was looser and actually steered less since the dual rate had to be turned down. Two other guys at the tracked were watching and even ran the car a few laps, agreeing with what I saw.
That being said, the F104 diffuser is too small to do anything. They also have to be as low to the track as possible.

I've just picked up a used F104W, the Lotus Type 79, and the two aluminum bolts that secure the front end and bumper were completely stripped. The local hobby shop doesn't want to bring replacements in as they always strip. Does anyone have an alternate solution or source for steel replacements?

has anyone got any feedback or done some testing on running the F60 Chassis over the F104pro. I understand that the pro graphite chassis was stiff and that people went about adjusting the top deck with cutout's etc, but what if any difference for the good would be running both the upper and rear deck from the F60.
