if thats the case, then why did AE and Losi have their buggies and trucks run on batteries in the same configuration as the F-104 and never had any "turn-in" issues? i'd say Tech Racing did their sums and believe this is the best solution. otherwise, they would not gamble their reputations on releasing a kit with such a perceived fatal flaw...

Off road cars hang the motor off the back end of the chassis for stability, and the battery is centered to reduce the polar moment since car will experience a ton of disturbances which may not be symmetrical. This is not the case with an F1 car. The length to width ratios are also completely different.

I think a lot of the reason the batteries have been run down the middle is to make a more realistic representation of the newer 1:1 cars which are much narrower.

i agree with you on that, but still... i say Tech Racing and Tamiya knew what they were doing when they came up with this design. otherwise, why release a kit which may have such potentially horrendous handling characteristics?

Oh ok.... I haven't seen the uncut, unpainted bodywork yet so I didn't know how the setup was....

I like it with the sculpted side pods... That's one of the things that's drawing me to buy this.... But I'm still waiting to hear from more people about the handling...

When Fred Medel brought the chassis over to Tamiya America to show off a few weeks ago, he deduced that those two screws allow adjustment and control for "droop"; if you want to maintain a certain ride height in front, they can be both loosened and have shims installed under them to prevent them from bending. OTOH, given the car's inherent "push", I kinda want some weight transfer to the front when I lift or brake. For now, anyway.

Default Motor/cells, speeds, race???

What motor/cells do you run in these cars? What speeds are they hitting? Do you race them or just drive them for fun?

Does anyone know if the front and rear wings made for the F103 will fit the F104 as there is some nice aftermarket ones around
