Er, I didn't I cut the body as per the manual, but haven't mounted the pods/pontoons which provide the skirt. Based on extensive wind tunnel testing, it improves back straight speed by around .13 km/hr. (only kidding )

I did three 5 minute races on Tuesday evening and I didn't notice the ESC as being warmer than ambient, but I wasn't really looking. I was driving quite conservatively and the F1 class at our club is predominantly for fun, so I can't claim this would be representative how it might go in competition.

The airflow at that part of the car should be reasonable and the power draw on a 17.5 shouldn't tax the GTB. Given it's position in relation to the side of the body, the fan might actually impede the airflow rather than improve it.

My next run won't happen before next Tuesday, and possibly later. I'll aim to do a 5 min run and temp gun both.

Hello my fellow Rc Drivers.

I've driven 1:10 BC onroad en Mini-Z and i have a Xray T2R. I am a F1 fan, so i'm thinking of getting me this bad boy (F104). Love to paint it really nice just like VYGER (great job man!). I'v read this thread with interest.

Only problem, which i have read, is that the space is limited as always. I have a 10.5 Brusless LRP stockspec and i would ike to use it on my F104 due to the fact that i can also use it on my Xray. The only problem is that the beauty comes with the body of the F1 i think. I don't want to mess up the bodywork by cutting the body beause of the taps that are on the motor.
I hope that anybody tested this motor and can tell whether it fits.

For a ESC I was thinking about getting me a LRP Sphere TC or Sphere. I've read this thread and this should fit. Beside i think this is a nice ESC to run on my Electro car.

As for a battery i don't know what to buy. I am thinking of getting me a LiPo battery with a big capacity for long runnings. This one:
CORALLY 5000 LiPo Stick Pack Hard Case (7.4 Volt / 25C) 48251
http://www.the-border.com/product.ph...&cat=55&page=1

Or a

Intellect 2 cell Lipo 8000 mAh, 30C, 7,4V, 2S-2P. This one is much cheaper and has Dean connectors. I don't know what quality it is. This is a huge capacity and big C.

I've seen this LiPo too on the border :

Yeah Racing Li-Po Racing Pack 7.4V 5000mAh 25c lp-0050
http://www.the-border.com/product.ph...&cat=55&page=1

I know the capacity and C rate are important. But the brands and experiences are important too.
Any of you have experience with these LiPo's?

So my plan is to buy a Tamiya F104 and run it with a LRP Brushless 10.5 Stockspec motor and LRP SPhere Competion or a LRP SPhere Competition(tc)

Any of you have had the same motor or ESC in this F104 and can give me some tips. Will this fit?

Thanks!

Depending on the servo you use, you may need to mount the servo back further in the chassis and put the ball studs on the front of the saver.

The long servo saver allows to much bump steer no matter what ride height you run. I've only done a couple of shake down runs in front of the house, but the difference was noticable after I made the change.
Thanks for your input. I was wondering what that change would do to the handling of the car. It sounds like it's an improvment. Thanks again for your help.

Would the Kimbrough servo saver be TCS legal?

Yes, Tamiya has always allowed aftermarket servo savers in the TCS series.

No, even for the TCS Nationals you can use another manufactures servo saver. I'm 100% sure about that.
