Holding the can in your hand with the endbell facing you, turn the endbell counterclockwise to advance the timing (more RPM and generally more power)

this will also result to additional heat on the motors right? is there a max setting for the timing in the counter clockwise position?

Well, the tell tale sign is that at some point it will run in reverse.

Measure revs and stop when you hit maximum, but remember you might have no torque left. Best if you can have some load on the motor when you test, so you can be sure it can still pull.
