You don't have to buy parts to change the timing. You have the option of expanding the range of timing with other sensor modules. there is a difference.
The other brands typically don't have as broad a timing range as the SP motors hence you are limited by what comes installed by design. Each module provides 10 degrees of adjustment and depending on which model you choose, it can be 0-10, 11-20, 21-30 and so on. With the 31-40 degree module, you are getting up in the range most motors can't accommodate. So in conclusion, if you know what timing range you intend to run, you may or may not need an additional module.

Thanks for clarifying that, I may have misunderstood them.

If you are actually running in "Blinky" mode, then how is it that you have 45 degrees of timing in the speedo, or do you mean temp?

45 degrees > temp

New software for boost is almost ready.....EC KIM took the Korea National win with the software for MOD and 13.5 boost class. It must be good....

I need to find a way to explain how to UPDATE the software without reinstalling the whole program...give me some time.

The Reventon R 13.5+ boosted would help a lot. Useing a GT2.0 LPF in my Durango DEX210 buggy and its a tight fit. The Reventon R would be nice to have in there.

I'm trying to find the sweet spot for a Speed Passion 1 cell 10.5 in blinky 12th.

Others are having decent success with the V3 at a rollout between 60 and 65 mm with 10 degrees advancement*, but my car seems sluggish with similar settings on the 1 cell.

I've got the timing boards to make anything I need just about, but could use some advice.

Circuit is 25m x 12m with 3m lanes.

*Except one car that has a rollout over 80mm and is still fast. This I just don't understand.

Try what the others are running and test gear combos before starting to adjust timing. I can't help with 10.5 but know that at my local track, two of us are using the 1 cell 17.5 motors with nearly identical qualifying times. I'm usually around 85mm of rollout with the stock timing insert at max and he is somewhere around 100mm with the +20 board. I determined my timing/ratio by watching lap times and found that my fastest laps didn't change (less than a tenth) with the lower rollout but there was no heat built up and absolutely no fade at the end of the run.

bare with me, i'm reading threw this thread but it's huge :)

i just received my reventon S and ultra sportsman v3 17.5. I'm going to be running in out local 1/10 tc sportsman (17.5) class which has NO restrictions on esc setup, timing etc.

so what are the recommended setting/starting point for software for this. i can run any timing, boost, whatever.

NewWestF1 10-19-2012 09:46 PM

Same setup, same question. Also do the software updates being talked about here apply to the Rev S too? Is it worth getting the Wifi module?

Both of you should have read the specifications on the Speed Passion website or asked on here before buying the Reventon S esc's. They do not support Hybrid boost or any turbo functions. They are more suited to blinky classes. Only the Pro and R support Hybrid boost settings. The Wifi module is a good idea but I feel its more of a gimmicky thing really. I bought one but have never used it so far. The LCD box is just as easy to plug in and change settings with. Also, the Hybrid boost profiles are in the final stages of testing for 10.5-21.5 and are due to be released very soon according to SP.
