i bought some Ceramic bearings and i didn't notice any differance at all ,

I personally think they are a waste of money , clean your original bearings of the blue grease then oil with light bearing oil and then your set :sneaky::sneaky:

my motors have the best top speed of most of the blinky field over here in Holland :lol:

setting gt 2.0

Just got a GT 2.0 (happy!) and the instructions say to set the brake/throttle EPAs to "100%" while calibrating. My radio (like many others) will let me adjust the T/B maxes to 140% and 160%. So, my questions are:
  • Do I set it at 100% and then leave it even after calibrating?
  • Do I set it at 100% and then, after calibrating, adjust the EPAs back to their maximums?
  • Do I calibrate it at their maximums even though those are higher than 100%?

Thanks for any input!

You could do #1 or #3, but I don't suggest #2. I do #3 personally. But I don't leave it at the maximum... I never need "full" brakes, so after calibrating I turn them down to 80-110% (after calibrating at 140%).

Please do your #1 option...set throttle and brake @ 100% (default for any brand of radio) and calibrate with the ESC.

If you are interested to find out yourself, you can try turning up (or down) the EPA % after the initial calibration (@ 100%)....you will find out there are no physical advantage by turning the EPA UP at all. Some OFF ROAD driver will turn down the EPA % after then calibration because they run MOD motor and do not need the extra power that doesn't need (due to the track size)....turning DOWN the EPA is all driver preference. But turning up the EPA after the calibration does not make it faster or more brake.

Great, thanks :tire:
I'm close to Kochanski now and we'll see if this new ESC gets me any closer....

Ah....Nochanski. You need more then the ESC then...I usually get 6 packs plus Tacos and tried to make him sick on the driver stands. It worked on Frazier..LOL.

GT pro/4 pole 550

Solara: If I turn off the boost and timing, will a GT pro run a 4.5/550/4 pole on 2s ok? Want to put it in my 1/8 buggy. Am lightening everything in the car to try and gain advantage, and 2s is lighter then 4s.

I have just bought a Speed Passion GT V2.1 EX and trying to start it up with 1S Lipo.
And it just goes "beep beep ---- beep beep" with a green light flashing also.

Which as far as I know means insufficient voltage, do I need to start it with a 2S battery?

ONLY if you are running 2 cells. Anything more, you will see the magic smoke. BTW, you can run boost with 2 cells on your 550 too....just make sure your 550 can handle the boost/power.

Use the 2S lipo to setup, turn off the voltage cut off, then you can use the 1S lipo for racing.

Being bored the other day, I decided to take apart a few motors, clean them with brake parts cleaner and re-oil bearings etc.

I noticed there were no markings on the can and end cap... Does it matter how its put back on? The poles on the v3 are evenly spaced and the sensor is "free"... How should it be re-assembled? I shoulda marked them....

The end cap of all the V3 motor...."B" location, is align with the main LOGO of the V3 motor...if not, you will get 3 ABC pole messed up.

Just used some old NiMH.. thanks for the tip it's worked a treat!

Just a shame I've just knackered my radio handset, was looking forward to giving the car a shake down.
