You should be able to get parts at stormer hobbies or amain.

I'm a bit sketched out on ordering direct from Schumacher since all the illegal charge problems.... Maybe it's all sorted out with the new payment processing. I haven't needed anything I couldn't find at stormer or A-Main yet, though.

1/8" hardened tool steel rod is pretty cheap. Has anyone tried just making their own hinge pins? It seems like you could just cut it to length with a dremel, then chuck it into a drill and spin it with some fine-grit sandpaper or metal polish or something. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
I used a dremel with a carbide cut-off wheel to cut the pieces. Getting the length just right was tricky, because the wheel was smaller than the dremel, and I had to cut at a bit of an angle. The results were between 54.5 and 55.7mm.
Once I cut the pieces to length, I chucked them into a drill (you could also chuck it into a dremel). I then spun up both the drill and the dremel and put the side of the wheel into the end of the pin, to flatten it and remove some length if needed. Then I went at a 45 degree angle to taper. Flip the pin and repeat. I think some kind of a stone would work better with less chance of exploding the cutoff wheel (I didn't explode it, but I was a bit nervous). I tried a sanding drum, but it wore out too fast.
Once the ends were tapered, I took a piece of 80 grit sandpaper, folded it in half, and stuck the pin on the inside of the fold (still in the drill). I ran it up and down till the finish was bright, but still rough. I then did the same thing with 1500 grit to get a smoother finish. Flip the pin in the drill and repeat.
The results will be useable, but not especially pretty.

I also found that www.mcmaster.com has 1/8" x 2-1/4" steel dowel pins. About $7 for a pack of 5. You'd have to remove about 2mm from the end of it, though. Removing 2mm with my tools would be a pain. Also, that's not that much cheaper than the real ones from schumacher.
It took me about a half hour to do the first one, just kind of figuring out the process. Then I was able to do 3 more in about 30 minutes. If I had a die grinder or an angle grinder, it would probably go much faster.

Okay guys, I'm in need of a better front bumper for my mi4 lp. Does anyone make a lower bumper ( bottom piece) out of Kydex? or something like that? Also what bumpers are being used out there? I have the Parma bumper but it seems soft and hasn't really helped recently. Can anyone give me some tips on what to do to help make the front end more stronger?
Thanks.
Thanks.
