Hi Jilles, I don't know if you're able to answer this.....

Reading the ETS coverage from last weekend, it sounds like there was a lot of traction roll issues, caused in part by the tires being slightly larger than the usual rubber size of 63 it sounds like......

Anyway, it mentions that the Tamiya team were able to make some small changes which transformed the car.

Basically, one of our series is running on a new tire and we had traction roll issues at the first round, I've since measured the tire and found these are also slightly larger than the usual Sorex/LRP etc.

Just wondered if you had spoken to the European guys and found out what they had done? If not, what changes would you normally expect to make to cure grip roll in these cases?

Thanks for any info
Oli

Asking Tony R. at the race
He told us to put F7 and R 6 droop and some little other change.
We have try this and it don't work on our cars....
I think set up of this race was secret....

Maybe Jilles could help us....

Hi Jilles,

I've got a Q about steering lock for you. How much lock do you tend to run on the car? I've been struggling a bit recently for steering, and I've always been told my cars push a bit... so had a look on the gauges today, and seems I've only been running around 16° on the inside wheel.
Transmitter settings were on 95% on the EPA's, and 90% on the dual rate... I think basically it's not been enough. Any tips gratefully recieved.
Cheers
Ed

Hey Ed, I think he said he normally uses 95% steering travel. This was on page 39.

i think Ed was reffering to wheel lock rather than EPA %age.
me and Ed were talking about this earlier today and Jilles' thoughts would be good to add into the mix.

Well my take on 95% steering would be to first set dual rates to 100%. Then set EPA to hit lock to lock. Do not mess with EPA anymore after it has been set.. This way, 100% dual rate is 100% steering throw. Turn down dual rate to turn down steering throw. So 95% dual rate is 95% steering throw. That's my take on this. But of course JGH may have a different way of doing things. Would be interested to hear what he has to say.

I was talking to someone else who was at the ETS and mentioned that Yannick ran this. Other thing possibly might be a wider front end on the axles.

I always run 100% lock. That doesn't mean I go to full lock anywhere on the track, that depends on the track itself and how much steering I've got.

Hi jilles
I was looking at the gallery for the ETS last week and noticed that some of the TRF team are running quite alot of weight still on their lipo's.
I'm told you were running at 1350g, is that correct?
When you run that weight do you run bang on 1350g or do you make sure the car is balanced left to right on balance pins and the weight is whatever it ends up, even if you're 20g over weight.
I take it you're running a light weight shell ?
I seem to struggle to get 1350g and have car perfect balance!
please advice the weight you ended up at and how you acheived it

can you please also tell me what setup changes you made to make the car
work well at this weight with the lipo, I see droop was mentioned as a change

many thanks
mark

Hi Jilles, congratulation on winning the Thailand Electric on road championship in mod class. I have few questions regarding it.

Did you use Lipo batt during that race?
What system are you currently running? I can see Orion stickers all over your car.
Which motor turn did you use on that track and what FDR were you using?
Was that 416X?

Thanks.

Hey BB

I can move some secret curtains

Last weekend we had Rebellion Race 2009 here in Finland. That event was EC warm up race and we use first time those Xenon tires.

I can tell you at many racers were trouble with traction roll at the beginning of the free practice.

I talked with Marc R and he told at it was hard to make car work good, but one thing was good idea to cut the top deck because it made car easier to drive

So, our local TRF team test that also and it work and everyone was pleased with that.

I visit Marc and Victor`s pit and notice at they bougth drive "old" WE versions. Victor use regular top deck (no cut version) and he has some troubles with car at some heats..

Some notice with those Xenon tires. There are slightly heavier than Sorex and wheel offset is different which caused that traction roll issues

that CA glued the side wall of the front tyres help.....

Results you can read RedRC
