I would go with what the local racers already have down there
it makes it easier tho find a set up
and if you have any friends with the same car it will make for easy parts if forsay you every run out of parts or they run out of parts

they are all really good cars

yup, those chassis are pretty much all the same. Run what everyone else has, and you won't be burned out. Don't be the guy that wants to be "original" and win at the same time. That's hard to do unless you have mad skillz.

+1, its always nice to have local help for something like setups and whatnot, its also better to run what somebody else runs so you can bum a part when you are in dire need of one.

Phi bulkheads are $60 and bend very easily. Also, the car is about to be replaced by its successor. All good cars though. Pick the one that has the most parts available locally, and people that are familiar with the car and can help you get it dialed in.

What surface will you be racing on? What kind of tires?

For asphalt I would recommend all but the Phi, the Tamiya and the 009EU would top my list.

get the kit which has lots of spares near your local track/home. you would find racing a lot easier and hassle-free from having to ship parts from online vendors.

but anyway, the T2009 and tamiya 416 would be on top my list.

tc cyclone i believe has a parts defect, both cyclone tc and trf416 is having parts shortage due too the economy. go with the 416 only if you can find parts.goodluck

Nope, they're not. I mean yes, they are all belt drive, but other than that there's a world of difference. But that doesn't count really. What counts is that indeed much as it is a beautiful piece of engineering, a Xray chassis is a rich man's car. Almost 100$ for a diff, and so on and on and on. It's a brilliant car, but it's for people with unlimited resources.

And about being the only guy who runs an unknown car, well, I like the satisfaction I get when people walk up to me and take a long look at my car and ask what car is that?! after I win a race (which is not that often, I admit). But it's true, if you have a different car than anyone else, you're on your own!

One hint though. I have a friend who's been in RC probably since before he could speak and that was many moons ago. He raced Xrays for a number of years and loves them. But last year he told me it was just madness with their prices and for the same money he could afford to run two 416WE cars in two classes. So there you go. Oh, and by the way, I have a Xray too (amongst other cars).
