Is it time for Roar to update the TC weight requirement?

Todays touring cars are designed to be lightweight so why are we added so much weight just to make 53 oz. when most cars are 49-51 oz. RTR with lipo. My T2 2009 tips the scale at 49 oz. RTR thats with lipo and the bottom liop plate:rolleyes: when the industry standard was 6 cell Nimh 53.oz was ideal then but now it is safe to say most use lipo. 51 oz would be perfect for todays rubber TC classes. It is time for change

The "ton" of weight added is usually to balance the car. Once a car is balanced its usually not that much more that is added. That little bit could certainly be reduced I guess. I believe they already reduced rubber tire from 1525 to 1500.

Alternatively car makers could make their cars heavier and more durable :sneaky:

ROAR has no control over that.. Manufacturers are suppose to turn in bodies for approval...

My car is perfectly balanced at 49 Oz was not aware of the 25 grams reduction but more is needed IMO

Mysterious. It's never clear what is being thought when the ROAR president responds with just a smile. At least we know she saw the thread and is aware.

I don't really have a problem with the rule. If it got too low then it would force a change in the style of cars to the Type R.

Think IFMAR when looking to change weights in Worlds classes. Currently, the weights have been adjusted for 2009.

and... again... :)

You guys complain about a minimum weight designed for nickel metals, yet you guys run cars designed for nickel metals? Where's the logic in that? :sneaky:

Im not complaining about the weight. I think it's fine. :sneaky:

I wonder if anyone ran nickel metals at the ROAR Nats in TC? At some point things will move to all lipo optimized. I wonder when we will see the first chassis without 6 cell cut-outs in it?

Everyone seems to be too scared to make a move on this.

So at a local level (Our State) we've dropped the weight limit to 1425 to see how it works.

That is definately the way to do it. Adjust rules locally for what works. As long as you don't have a lot of racers preparing for ROAR events then it shouldn't be a problem.
