Your Phi is still a great car. No need to change. If you're just looking for something different, the new Phi is due out in May (I believe). As far as speed control and motor combo, the Tekin RS seems to be the latest and greatest. I'm running the Tekin Redline motors as well but most at the track are running Trinity Duos with the RS. Good luck in your search.

740GLE Turbo!

I just picked up a used Losi JRXS-R as that is what is raced at our track and spares are always in stock. The other option would have been the TC5R for the same reason. Parts are relatively inexpensive too. I broke my XRAY once and it cost $40.00 to fix. I broke a caster block and lost a bushing in the process. I'll never get another just for that reason, no matter how "superior" the intial machining is.

as stated before i am sure, best is in the eye of the consumer who is buying at that time. i am partial to associated, but there are other kits out that are far supieor such as the x-ray. but keep in mind you get what you pay for. x-rays are pricey but well worth the money, the tc5r is a good kit for 350.00 as is the team academy. it is all in your preference. also then you can have the debate of shaft drive over belt, do you want efficiency over durability?
just my 2 cents.

Well hopefully I'll be getting to know more of you as time goes on. I'm making my return to the hobby after more than a decade, and stepping up my models considerably due to being able to afford better this time around.

So far I have followed the recommendations of my lhs's, and wound up with a tc5r, running a trinity 13.5, with associated sphere comp sc, and lipo batteries. However I specified to them that I wanted the most bang for my buck, without breaking the bank.

I still spent more than I wanted to, but am having a blast with this setup. However, I have more car than I currently have the skills for. lol

Dont know if this helps at all, just my two cents. Which is worth even less with no experience with other cars to back it up. lol Basically just going on recommendations for the lhs. Which is probably your best bet as well.
