Hi guys

Was at a local motorsports event, full-sized not RC

Anyway, they invited a pro drift driver from Japan, Manabu Orido to demonstrate some drift driving. Attached is a pic of him doing his stuff in a AE86 Levin

Cheers

When will the Yokomo bodies be released for sale? And the tires?

BTW, someone in here called using tape on the tires to drift was cheating. What about PVC tires?? That's even worse!!!

Drifted my modified touring TC3 the other day, and it worked great... But one important thing is a front oneway.... Then you can have the handbrake effect, + a good LSD effect to pull you straight again...(not that I ever run without a oneway anyways...)

did someone ever try to drift a RWD R/C car (AWD modified into RWD)?
Would the classic drift set-up would work, considering that it woud be even diffucult to make the car go straight.(especially if the chassis is not made to be RWD)

Yokomo bodies and tires should be released here in Japan on the 26th (Dec)..

Not sure if i would call it cheating, using tape and PVC just makes it a little easier..
Here is a pic of some tires with PVC pipe (Asimo's tires )

Indoors I guess I will use tape, for outdoor drifting I will just wait for the Yokomo tires...

One thought on setups:

I've read a lot around, and as a serious Mod racer, and racing driver(Gokarts since I was 8 yrs old...) I can't really get the point in changing your setups for drifting. It's all about finding the right tires. If you have a good modified setup, you have a nice balance in your car, and then all you need is less grip... I usually drive cars with plenty of steering, so my cars works better with my normal Mod setup, than all the strange drift setups... For real cars they work, but for R/C? Not sure about that one...

Only thing I will try is more camber both front and rear...

KevanB: Yeah just slip some pvc over the tire, that pvc tire was one of the drift tires that one of the yokomo guys had thrown out when they were testing the new drift tires.

Martin: When Asimo was drifting, i don't believe he changed anything, just put on the drift tires and off he went.. the car seemed to handle fine to me, expecially when Masami and the other yokomo drivers took control!

I will ask the yokomo drivers what setup they recommend next time i see them.

Nice clip

Abt the background music hmmmm.. haven't I heard it somewhere before?

Is it just me or are most RC drifters Initial D fans?

Entropy : Jake, that is just a short part of an advert for Sega Rally 2. The full version will blow your mind, it has, in order of appearance :

1) A guy pulling a cart
2) A highschool girl on a bicycle
3) A bulldozer
4) The kid on a trike

Cheers
