Freezing your batteries?ha...
I read on a earlyer post that if you charge yopu batteries the pu them in the freezer they hold there charge better then if they stay at room temp. that seems very odd to me. Does anyone know more about that?

This is a bad idea extreme cold temperatures will harm your cells. A battery has chemicals in them that dont like to be frozen. I heard of this trick back in the 80's. LOL Yea Im that old.

SpeediePHATT: Gee. I thought I was the only really old guy on here. ok how about the jero-bee/JoMac 1/12th scale cars?????? I frist got into this as I was milling out the pods for a 540 motor instead of a .049 cox gaser. we froze the CE's and the red 1400's............. worked well but it killed runtime. Thanks |

at 33 and started racing in 1985 does that count as an old fart.
yea we would charge the batteries at the track in a cooler to get more charge in them because they ran longer and more consistant power didnt taper off towrds the end of the run it only worked on the scr 1500 and 1700's but we were also charging the batteries at 8 to 14 amps to get voltage (punch) out of them charginging them cold was in turn to keep the heat shrink from melting off. they didnt live long like that:nod: |
