I've seen 1/1 scale RC cars before but this...
I wonder what the range is.
You could really race these with the onboard camera I guess.

If you watch when the car is sitting in the pits and LH is turning the phone, which is turning the steering wheel, the front tires are not turning at all. Fake. Still pretty cool though.

Maybe McLaren should be working on getting their car up to speed. They don't look good in preseason testing.

there is another thread about this in another forum, but I'll sum it up. #1. you can't add a bluetooth receiver to a miniz without replacing the servo, speed control, and add the receiver, there is no space for this on an F1 chassis. 2. the steering wheel thing 3. when hamilton is driving the car, there is a serious disconnect from what the car is doing to his movements 4. yeah mercedes is going to control their $1m+ race car with a friggen storm, yeah OK

Got viral marketing? I think so...

"Viral" marketing, folks...and this thread is proof of how effective viral marketing can be. Just getting people to discuss whether or not it's 'real' is NOT the point; the point is that you're talking about it (the product/video link/etc). And that builds brand awareness by camouflaging itself as a 'user created' video on Youtube...smart companies can sometimes yield much more exposure via viral campaigns like this versus the traditional advertising venue (print publications, traditional broadcast, etc).

Regardless, it's obviously 'working' though (I watched it and found it entertaining).

It is entertaining but it's not real. They would have to add steering servo control and interface with the engine throttle, gearbox, and clutch on the Mclaren. This takes time, testing, debugging - not something a race team can be bothered with just to shoot an advertisement. Although it's technically possible, it's much easier to just fake it in, which is what they did.

Fake, or not. It's possible. But regardless, it's just a cool little youtube ad.
