Default Masami Hirosaka RETIRED

Correction, title should be Masami Hirosaka 広坂正美....

ONLY retired from racing, probably still do club racing and other demo race, as well as YOKOMO and other local Japanese RC business that him and his father doing currently...but he will definitely missing that world title of touring car (that he has yet to capture) forever (hope he will change his mine).

Source from RC Maniax in Japan....japanese link. Also posted from www.Rc-kws.com

Can't imagine that he won't have another crack at the TC worlds. I guess he will "unretire" just before then.

This guy is been racing R/C cars since the 80's. Maybe even earlier. When I first got into the hobby, I remember seeing him racing YOKOMO off-road cars.

The first race I saw Masami was at the Offroad Worlds at Romsey/UK. This also was the race he got World Champion for the first time. That time he was running a Schumacher Cat powered by a HPI UNO motor.

WWWHHHHAAATTT?!?!

This guy is the babe ruth of RC, winner of the most ifmar world championships by ALOT compared to anybody else. He is a major pioneer for the RC hobby. There is a reason that he is called "master".

I think the first I seen him drive was at the 89 off-road worlds. He did a driving demo driving the track using his feet on the controller. His laps were faster than my lap times. I learned I needed to stay home and practice more.

He has been known to "unretire" a couple times already

Default farewell

Sorry to see the Master retire...

just think about how much input he has had over the years on what is designed/copied etc....
he is a major part of RC both off road and on road.

Every race I've seen (video) that he's been ...he was the guy everyone watched out for....whether it be he was "favored to win" or "Watch out he "Masami" wants to win".
This guy was a tactician behind the remote.

The Rick Flair of RC....WHOOOOOOHHHHHH.....slap ..you just got passed

if we're lucky perhaps he'll come back in 2010 for that one title that eludes him...

"Retired"

Its just the perfect excuse to chill at a private track non stop for a year and practice for the 2010 TC Worlds.

Or at least thats what id be doing if I was Masami.

Hell, that's what I'd be doing if I won the Lottery!

Hopefully it won't be the last we see of him in competition...
