Its funny to see chassis trends change over the years. It used to be you had to have the stiffest chassis possible. Now it almost the exact opposite.
The cars are 100 grams or more lighter than previously requiring more flex and roll to keep good traction.

I dont completely agree with this line of reasoning, but weight does affect chassis design.

There is such a thing as too stiff and too flexi, and i think controlled flex is far more important. That is the biggest draw to the Photon's design... its ability to adapt with all of its chassis options.

Personally, i just like the red parts...

Well at least in america everyone is now racing on rubber tires, if we were still racing foam stiff is where its at Rubber tires on high grip carpet stilll require almost foam like chassis too.

With this lipo chassis, this thing is as stiff as any foam TC.

Raced my photon on carpet for the first time and it was very good indeed. It has a lot of flex and a lot a traction, like the Mi4, but without the unpleasant handling traits. It was nothing like my T3 however which I also like very much but for different reasons. Both lapped the same but I preferred the photon as the rear was more stable. Actually, I really enjoyed driving this car, and its quick, managed to tq. Wish I had tried it sooner

Just tore one down for you. The shaft is 28.5mm long and 3mm wide. I don't know of any optional longer shafts. Total shock length when built is 63mm. Hope that answers your questions.

I was trying to lookup which lipo chassis I got with the kit. Now AMain has 4 listed and RC Market has 5 list:

AMain has:

PCHS009
PCHS010
PCHS015
PCHS016

RCMarket has:
PCHC008
PCHS009
PCHS014
PCHS015
PCHS016

Now the question. Does anyone know the thickness of each chassis?

Thanks in advance

PCHC008 2.25 component grade chassis. more flex than the "stiff"
PCHS009 2.25 quasi chassis. Standard in the International kits.
PCHS010 2.5 quasi chassis.
PCHS015 2.25 quasi chassis with aluminum battery holders.
PCHS016 2.5 quasi chassis with aluminum battery holders.

PCHS01 is the 2.5 6cell chassis.

I would imagine that the PCHC014 part from RCMarket is the 2.25 component grade chassis with the battery holders. Hope that answers your questions.

I would have thought the softest LiPo chassis came stock in the Ltd kit, is the LiPo Ltd chassis ok for outdoor racing on a tarmac track?, fast large and fairly bumpy with what will be a 10.5T motor class.

And good news for me, just managed to sell my spare Nitro today, so I get to order a brand spanking new Photon tonight.
