Default Spring Buckets for small front springs now available

These new McPappy Racing spring buckets may be useful for 1/10th or 1/12th pan cars using small front springs like Associated, CRC, or WindTunnel "Babies". They were specifically designed to keep the spring perfectly centered so they won't touch the kingpin. This will make the front suspension smoother and prevent that metal grinding feel when the suspension is compressed. They also prevent scratches on the kingpin caused by the spring rubbing on it and greatly extends your kingpin polishing efforts. Since there is not much clearance between the kingpin and small springs, these spring buckets are machined Delrin with a very precise +/- .001" tolerance. Each bucket will take up .03125" of space on your kingpin. (Both buckets would require only 1/16" of total kingpin space.) They can handle the springs up to a 3/16" out diameter. An Associated 1/10th .020" spring was used in these pictures.

A lot of the oval racers bought out our inventory in 4 days, but we have them back in stock once again. The reviews have been all positive as it keeps the springs from touching the kingpin making the suspension feel like butter

These will work on 1/12th and 1/10th World GT cars as well.

The are made from Delrin, so they are black in color only.

Interesting but as i see it, when i have full caster the spring will be preloaded at front and have droop at the back of the top springbucket? How will that influence the spring? Or is there an angle in the springbucket so the spring sits flat in the bucket at full caster?

Most people run 1-3 degrees of static caster. For others who are reading this, remember, there is a difference between a 10 degree caster block (active/dynamic caster) and how much actual static caster you choose.

This is an exaggerated 5 full degrees. More than most people use. Click for higher resolution:

Here is 5 degrees with the bottom of the lower arm filed a little bit:

Most of the top oval racers at Snowbirds who use the small springs were using these spring buckets because it's simply smoother. Keeps the spring off of the kingpin in all situations. Less bind. No scratching. It preserves the polishing efforts you've done on your kingpin.

may be able to work something out with you if you like.

I’m already ordering for more than just me - can add yours on and then post out. It’s likely only going to be a small letter size post.
