Well, I think I have a bigger problem then set up. I started with the low grip set up posted. The car was spinning out leaving a turn. Then I changed tires. Still not working. The rear dif was too tight, fixed that and we were better, but not near good. We tried all sorts of setup and had some of the local fast guys go through the car. We got the car drivable but it was very unpredicable. Held one second, spin out the next. I qualified 3rd, but had some bad luck in the main with lapped traffic.

I am going to dismantle the whole car and go through it piece by piece and replace all the bearings. Hopefully I will find something.

Thanks for all the help,
Chris

There's nothing wrong with a tear down and rebuild, i do it about every 3-4 months.

Some things to look for;
1. Make sure all shocks are the same length
2. Hing pins are not bent causing binding
3. After rebuilding shocks all rebound the same, should rebound very little, 10-20% of length. Tip drill small a hole in plastic cap to prevent air compression in shock when compressed.
4. None of your bulkheads are bent
5. Sway bars, each side lifts the opposite side arm the same.

Was the car spinning out both directions or one? I'm assuming your using the same tires as the fast guys? What tires are popular at your track? Was the car spinning out when getting hard on the throttle?

Have you changed the orings in your shocks lately? they swell and add a lot of friction to your shocks, which would be more noticeable on low grip.

I would say it was working awesome!
Old is car still very competitive.
New car is making more progress every week.

Thanks again for the help with my ep this weekend Mike.
Those two little tweaks dropped my average lap times two/three tenths in my main.
I also found the left rear shock is binding a bit (just feels a tad slower..not bent).
Going to replace the o-rings tonight.

Hi guys, need some advice choosing a chassis.

I am currently running a rubber 6 cell chassis and would like to replace it with a lipo chassis. I run med traction indoor carpet.

Which of the following would you suggest I get?

Top "Standard" Lipo
Top "Stiff" Lipo
Top "Super Stiff" lipo
Exotek

should i also replace my top deck and/or wing with other version than the one that came with the car?

thanks

TOP USA made their own chassis (EJ) chassis. It is an excellent chassis, TOP is "thinking" about making another run of them if they get enough interest. You can contact OD at TOP USA and let him know if your interested in one.

Hey Chris, also examine all plastic suspension and steering parts for very very small hairline cracks. That will definitely make the car spin out and very unpredictable.

Hey guys. I just picked up a stinkin' good deal on a Top Photon for my brother-in-law who is looking to start up with 25.5 VTA. We'll be racing at Mike's Hobby Shop in Dallas, which is an indoor carpet track with medium to high traction.

Anyone got an idea of where to start with his Top? Springs, oils, etc?? We're all really new at this, so we need all the help we can get!

Very good point, I often forget this myself, until it completely breaks.

Just run hanulec's carpet setup and adjust your camber if the car feels a little off, I forget exactly how much I ran on vta tires indoor, I feel like it may have been 1/2.5.

I can find his Photon EX setup. Is that the one I should use? If not, do you have the link to his Photon set up?

Should be similar to this, I guess he didn't post the setup, but his and larrys setups are usually very close:
