Hey Guys,

Quick question for Josh, EJ, any of the TOP guys;

From the CAD drawings i cant seem to notice much of a difference, of course i could be wrong, but have the driveshafts and axles been changed or updated for the Photon?... or does it retain the Scythe parts???

Just curious, the car looks fantastic, i cant wait to get my hands on one over here.

Cheers

Robbie

Good to hear that the car is build for rubber tiers.
I don't now why you all drive foam in America.

The red color is ok.

Well done guys with the result.

Josh send me a Photon and i drive next week the first club race of this year. Than has the Photon also in Europe a good result

We like being different

I'm really looknig forward to picking this car up when it's released.
Does TOP think that there is going to be more support for this platform in the USA?
Hey Goop next time you are at Harbor, want to talk to you about a baseline set-up for a rubber car. I'm getting the funds together to buy the car once it comes in.
Thanks guys.

On my foam car, I had 30g on the chassis to make minimum weight along with the 63g (I think) in the weight tray to balance the car left/right. There are a few things that we "beefed" up on the production cars aluminum parts but still it only added about 7-10g to production.

mikky32 - Sorry, I only have my foam car and EJ has the rubber car. We still have testing to do so you will have to wait for production...lol..

xray - The axles/universals from the Scythe are the same in the Photon. I think they are one of the only things that carried over to the new kit.

HarryN - The problem is, TC dimenstions lend themself to realistic bodies more than the pan cars that are too wide and too short.... Save that topic for the other thread...lol... We will have set-ups for the car hopefully in the kit as well as on-line so it will be easy to know what we are running at each of the tracks and races.

As far as green goes...lol... Tell 14 Time IFMAR WC that green is an unlucky racing color. Masami's cars have been green for as long as I can remember.

Hey man, I didn't bring up the body debate here! Someone else did!!! And that is definitely awesome that you guys will provide setups with the kit. I think TOP Racing is going to be the next car to have.

And yeah, about Masami, he is Japanese. Not Chinese. I think they have a different look on superstitions about colors. But that is definitely a damn good point. That dude is supremely talented. Have you tried using that pitch to TOP Racing, Josh? I think they will have to listen to your request about green after that.

Josh why do you always say no to me?

Why do you never say yes here is a car for you or yes you may have the cad files or some ting like that?

When is the car going for production?

I love the narrow top plate for the rubber spec.
I can't wait till i have one in my hands and drive with it.

Now i'm driving with a TOP Scythe with a arp bottom plate and all ally bulkheads on it.
It drives good and the car is fast but i'm ready for a new car.
After they stole my cars last year, i have bought again a TOP Scythe.
I hath a Hotbodies, Xray T2'007 and a TOP Scythe and i have chosen for the TOP again.
Not only for the price of the parts of the car because that will also make you smile, but also for how it drives.
I want the new TOP and i will update my Scythe with the parts of the Photon.

I saw that on EJ's car the spol is used that i have on my Scythe now.
So am i right that the diff also fits on the photon and that i can use the driver train of the photon on my Scythe?
I want the diff covers on my car now. Tomorrow i'm going to clean my diff again. With the Xray i hath a lot less problems with durt in my diff so now i want the new diff on my Scythe to.
I will use my scythe for stock racing and i want to use the Photon for super stock.
(Stock racing by the club is 6 cell with a tamiya cup motor and super stock is 5 cell with a 10,5T brushless motor)
By me the speedo and the motor are from Tekin.
Love the red colors. I have order a Nosram motor cooler for my car. Not only does it works very good. it cools also very good.

will there come a basic Indore(carpet) and outdore (asphalt) rubber setup by the car just like Xray?

About the durability of material of this chassis, i am so doubt.
In fact, the ball ends and the turnbuckles of this car shown in the photos, makes me remember those breakable ones of Xpress, i hope those are not the similar ones.

mac853 - It seems while all others are excited, you always have something negative to say... Here's a bit of detail - We have tested a lot of different plastics for the car. I have used the same ball cups since the Novak Race (Jan 01) in foam tire modified and 10.5 with little wear, not a single one poping off from impact or breaking. Also, I was in a super hard crash at the 4th Grand Slam event and broke the inner hinge pin and cracked the plastic hinge pin mount but did no damage to the suspension arm, castor block and steering block. Compared to the impact (with a car then a concrete wall) I'd say the parts broken or damaged were minimal. The foam car will come with titanium turnbuckles and the rubber car will come with aluminum ones (I am pretty sure on all this). The aluminum ones have been run and tested by the TOP drivers in HK and I am sure the quality will be very good. Don't doubt... We have put a lot of effort into this car to ensure that the materials and quality would exceed even our own expectations. The main credit on this goes to Vincent who has spent countless hours sourcing materials to make this car up to par with the best in the world. You will see.

Seeing such a strong US team, and an importer that genuinely cares and supports its products is very encouraging. I love my Tamiya, but man, sometimes I feel like I'm by myself on a big island. So many companies try to differentiate themselves with little optimizations, and minor changes, but in reality, it's the intangibles, like support from guys that race on the tracks in your own country that make the difference. You've definitely got the attention of a few of us out here in Denver.

Are the front CVD's aluminum, or will steel versions be available? What's the bumper like? It seems like many cars come with a soft bumper, and getting a harder one can be a challenge. Are things like aluminum hubs/rear hubs and such going to be available options from TOP? Thanks!
