Would is also be possible to control the temperature, so the minimum (or max negative) temp can be set?
I can imagine TOO cold also not being a good thing.
You dicribed a frozen car earlier....
This could make a drivetrain run bad freeze bearings and make composite brottle, or not?
Is it possible to integrate this cooler in a stand, cooling from the bottom instead of on-top?
Maybe 2 small fans at the side of the coolingfin?
So it wont be in the way when installing batts, etc....

Pizzadude: I am not an electrical/machanical engineer, but I'm sure there is a way to regulate temp. Probally with limiting the volts/amps to the unit. I regulate temp by time on motor(as long as the phone doesn't ring. or kids, or wife).

I did some "hot lap" practice yesterday with some of my racing buddies and after full 5 min runs, motor temps were were in the mid 80's--I was starting in the mid 20 degree range. Starting with no pre-race cooler hooked up (ambient temp 68 degrees,yes we think that is cold in San Diego) motor temp at 66, when done with 5 min run temps were in the 110 degree range. There were alot of variables with these few runs (including winding up on my lid,thanks guys), but the difference was so great that I'm OK with the results. I will try to do some more controled tests, but I feel the best test is in a race condition anyway. Next we will try experimenting with gearing. I tried one run with pinion up 2 teeth(31/72-TC3-P2K-CS27), this would normaly "cook" this particular motor, but after 5 min, mid 130's and "wick'ed fast!---I made a 2nd generation proto-type today, larger heatsink/larger fan and did some bench tests. I'll post some pics.

The picture posted above could be made more efficient by applying more solder between the curved plate and the flat plate... more heat conductance would be achieved...
Me, I'd rather use the peltier for keeping my beercan cold... A tipsy driver makes fasterr lap times (as long as he races clean)
