I am planning to upgrade my XXX-S shocks

I really like those externaly adjaustable shocks...
but let me hear your experiences :)

if i can remember right, HG makes some, i think there designed for hpi cars, but who cares, they might be good, because HG makes good stuff, just expensive, and light(wear).

The losi shocks work fine as is... You wont get any performance gain by going to other shocks. You could get titanium nitride shock shafts, which will be smoother, and threaded shock bodies for easier adjustment.

HG only makes clear shock bodies which are no good (They discontinued them because the plastics weren't consistent)

I want better shocks mainly because of the tunability.
I like the idea of rotated a shock sfat to change the pistons for different track set up instead of rebuilding the shocks with new oil...

Any shock that has the adjustable piston that I've owned, I've figured out a way to go with a fixed piston because it's more precise. Why exactly are you wanting to do this? If you're expecting it to make the car faster, then I can tell you right now it wont live up to those expectations...

TRF Tamiya...

If TRF Tamiya were externally adjustable they would be on all of the cars i own, very smooth shock, but the adjustability of the Xray shocks make them hard to pass up.

The Serpent shocks (which is what X-Ray uses) are pretty nice for tuning. I had several Serpent Nitro cars and the adjustability of the externally adjustable shocks was a very nice tuning aide.

Does anyone know if the X Ray shocks fit a TC3 and if they fit a LOSI XXXS-G+?

Being able to change dampening on the fly is a nice feature on my Xray and Serpent cars.
Calandra Racing makes them for the TC3. Has anyone tried them? I was thinking about getting a set for my NTC3.

I'll second that. Inconsistent performance on any shock is usually from not properly filling the shocks. Serpents (xray) are a bladder shock and require that they have no air and are filled with the same amount so that they all behave the same. Once you get that, nothing beats being able to change the damping on race day.

I think the vast majority of TC shacks are all about the same size. anybody's shock should fit on anybody's car.

Firstly, Xray doesn't use serpent shocks, they are very very similar but they are actually Xray units. I think Xray used the serpent units on their first T1 and then switched to making their own which are basically the same.

I run the serpent adjustables, very nice and they last quite a while between rebuilds. Being able to change pistons in a few seconds is a great option but they arn't really necessary unless you change tracks and conditions, week in, week out. If you race at one track, once you get your shock setup which will take all of a day's testing your pretty much set for as long as you race at that track. If your going to upgrade you might as well buy the best, tamiya TRF units.

my shocks my trf414mII are getting tight

i can barley adjust the ride height anymore....... i need to squeeze it really really hard...............

any ways to looosen it up again

the adjustable xray shocks are the way to go. built correctly they wont leak at all. if they leak you havent built them right. it would be to annoying to have to change the shock piston each time you wanted to change the dampening. (messy silicon oil sticks to your hands like brake fluid:lol: )

you can try to change the o-ring with Yok's clear silicon one

i heard that the O-ring will just 'enlarge' after u used for a long time and have a tight feel.
