There was an interview in an Aussie magazine (Racing Lines) with Oscar Jansen where he said that if your running motors with turns lower then 10x1 then you should be running the Modified version and 10x1 and above the Touring is ok, this is because the modified motors are more efficient then the touring.

I have also read somewhere that the Hara and Surikarn versions are the same as the Touring version. In Australia they dont have the twisted coms either, I assume this is because we don't have the 12 turn motor limit like they have in Europe.

Up until a week ago I had been running a 9x1 Touring and was fantastic once I worked out what timing to use, mine was one of the earlier ones to arrive in australia and had the timing set 12degrees, it really came alive when I set it to 18degrees.

Now I have an 8x1 Modified and so far it's prety good made over 6 minutes of runtime at the Tamworth track (relatively small track), geared at 8.44.

The 8x1 came with 18degrees timing setup out of the box.

just my 2 cents
Tony

Joe

thanks for you answer... ok, it's .3mm then, a little more than a hundredth of an inch... grossly one twentieth of the contact patch height... I guess cutting the brush this accurately is a major pain (I don't know about any brush station that cuts this small), so I won't try it. Never mind...

If you could get a pic of a cut brush on this forum, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Later,
Paul

Well, ran my Surikarn 11x1 last night and had a blast. The motor was ultra-efficient and had great rip out of the corners while still being easy to control. Ran with Enduro's, 18 degrees of timing and geared it at a 9.2. Will try some Sprint brushes next time, but I'm very impressed with the motor the way it came from the factory.

I heard they are available, I just don't know where.

I am hopping to get an answer to the arm questions, cause I would like to use the v2 in 19 turn class.

I just have my first V2 modified 9x2 from Peak Racing.
Was participated in a race yesterday and found that the result was far behind expected.
Compare to my D5 10x2, I can feel that at least >20% more power than the V2???

The V2 tested with ratio 8.85 and 8.55, the 8.85 give better run time but still does not produce any good performance, no punch and no top end.

Tested with motor management, it shows max RPM at 44000, but I have 55000RPM when tested with the Jukka Steenari version 8x2.

Is anyone know the main different between these two V2 motors?

Wow! your stock motor is comparable with my V2 9x2.

What is the full name of MVP?

MVP= Magnets Voltage Power. Its called a reedy MVP. Nice balanced stocker but I doubt it can do 44000 rpm "legally". It would be capable of about 35000 with the right setup tho.

Where can you get hara V2's online???

main difference is the twisted comm on the "factory pilot" version, plus the rotor is different (smaller web I think). The twisted comm versions are quicker, but con siderably less efficient.

you're probably not gearing it right... also check that the brushes are sat in and that the timing is adequate.

last but not least... the MVP is a stocker... 27 simple... it might be revving fast, it's no match for any mod... believe me... don't believe the figures....
