from what i hear the v2 motors run hotter than the standard endbell. what part of the motor actually runs hotter and why. Is this a disadvantage seeing as heat is the enemy of all things electric.

Actually the V2 endbells runs cooler as becos' of the angle of the brushes contacts the comm, there is less brush bounce hence lighter springs and lesser friction and heat.

It dosnt run any hotter then the core when geared properly, they dont like to push as much as the cores.
They all seam hotter because all the heat gets sucked into the endbell faster on the v2...its all metal.

compared to a D5's, V2 actually runs cooler, both had same no. of turns, timing, gearing etc. not as much rip as the D5 but a lot smoother power band.

Hi had my Surikarn 8 x 1 geared at 8.6 on my XRay FK.
Track is large (3 netball courts side by side) with a combination of sweeper and large straight then a semi tech infield.
Kept dumping at 4.5 minutes in 3 out of 3 of the mains.
Dropping to 9.1 in the last main didn't help. Neither did dropping timing back to 6 degrees.
Comm needed a cut albeit a light one but the sprint brushes were purpled and chipped on the edges.
Any tips...was i grossly out of gearing...is the 8 that much more agro then the 9 and 10 mentioned earlier?

Dumping could be a number of other things. How old are your cells? Have you checked them? You could have a bad cell or something. What rate are you charging at? Driving could have a lot to do too. Every time you hit a dot and lift the tires, especially running a low wind motor, you're going to loose about 10 sec off your run time. Just a few other things to consider.

But are you running 7 and 8 turn motors? When you lift the tires on a car that's going around the track as fast as these cars do, you suddenly unload them and you'll get a big surge in the amp draw from the motor. I'm just going by what I've been told by people who have done about every test on a battery you could think of and know a lot more about them than I every will.

Joe, you said narrow the bottom of the brush by 0.3mm... do you really mean 2 tenths of a millimiter? that's close to a hundredth of an inch... do you confirm? sounds too small to me.
Is it worth doing on 12 turns on tight tracks? I'm running sprint brushes btw and they do make a BIG difference...
