I run a Surikain 12x1, my friend has Hara 12x1. Cut every 10-15runs, just one thin pass will do. I got 50 runs from the first pair spring brush. The Surikain edition has a 4mm web, same as the normal touring version, but comes with spring brushes. Hara edition has 3.5mm web, higher rpm, more power but less efficient. Use a smaller pinion with the Hara version. They are both great.

you guys are wasting the com cutting between 10 to 12 runs if you geared the motor right yo should be getting about 12 to 16 runs and a light skim and a brush stick to deglaze the brushes. I got 30 or so runs with one cut at 15 or 16 run mark.

Thats a blue end bel version with enduros and 18 deg of timing. at a 7.40 fdr. on a 140 x 70 foot track with slightly flowing corners and two 180's are lapp times are in the high 13's and low 14's. I get about 170 seconds of battery left over on my turbo 30 discharging at 20 amps.

Dude this is as close to brushless as you can get. These motors pushed brushless back another 5 years.

I agree that the V2 style motors are a step ahead when it comes to comm wear and brush life.....but when you run a super low wind all done up with hard springs and sprint compound brushes...which is what you have to do to be on pace with the other brand motors in a big race......most of the top guys and team drivers are still cutting their comms every couple to a few runs at the "least" because the power does drop off to a certain extent....it even says 4 to 6 runs on the package of sprint brushes and it's even less on low wind motors with hard springs being used in a touring car........My point is that when your comm needs to be cut is different for every motor combo and application.....

Actually I found out something interesting today.

I neglected to say, cause I did not think it was critical, that I put a Reedy arm in the motor. The Reedy arms are wound in a different direction, which caused my motor to spin backwards. I did not know that different arms are wound differently. If you don't beleve me, try it.

Yes, you are right!!
The GM Racing motors are also wound that way causing the Orion/Peak motors to go backwards.....

Actually, some of the new Trinity C2's are "cross wrapped" and will also spin backwards if not put into a can with magnets zapped to accomodate it.

Found this out the hard way a couple of weeks ago.

I am too lazy to look anybody remember the diff between the hara motor and the blue endbell motor. I know sprints in the hara and enduros in the other but power what was the diff?

The Hara has a smaller web for faster spool up. Mine didn't come with the scewed com though, I think those are only avail in japan and europe for the 12T stuff. Overall I like my hara edition better than my original blue endbell verison I had a while ago.

I believe Ultimate Hobbies has them in stock. At least, they did when I was there during TCS Nats.
